Wait. isn't that why people go to art school in the first place? Because they don't know what they want. Art school is a waste of money for most people. I think it looses it's appeal when your friends who went to "real school" start getting well paying jobs and you learn to paint pretty shit. After I graduated college, I dicked around for a year or so. then I opened up a children's art center. I am 23 and I teach art during the day to kids. I do whatever the fuck I want the rest of the time. Don't stress over life. Laugh at dickheads. Be honest. Do your thing. But! If you do go to school, you will end up with a much bigger and better (for the most part) music and movie collection.

anyone have a good suggestion on a lettering book. im looking for a book of different styles of script. or a website i could get some. thanks

im not sure if this thread is even being read anymore but the blow dryer idea is better on acrylic or watercolors. that is based on my experiance. the trick i use is crystal clear. my process usually goes something like this... do out a full sketch in charcoal. build up the values blah blah. spray it. then make up a a general color. remember warm colors pop off of cool colors. lets say im using burnt umber, i paint it over the entire canvas. then i take a paper towel and wipe the entire thing down. then you spray that. spraying it seals the layer. similar to putting packing tape over what you just painted. its a method used by Chang Park, look him up. at this point you have a nearly finished painting. you just glaze your colors on over. glaze spray glaze spray etc. etc. this works for me but it might not be for everyone. and the spray technique obviously would not if you paint like picasso.
