  1. Post a pic, dude. I am already so stoked on what I am gonna do this weekend.
  2. Current obsession. http://www.jonmoritsugu.com/ Mod Fuck Explosion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5P8qmJ_gfk Terminal U.S.A. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOalxvVFAW4 Fame Whore https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aLVhLhkhvk Scum Rock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXXRIzqPVF8 The cutest couple ever. I appreciate. To the fullest. Yep.
  3. This is rad. I can relate to the eating of fries and juice a lot when a traveling vegetarian. I took a trip to Athens once. I went just for the street dogs and alley cats. Awesome pics...
  4. My first tattoos were self-done stick-and-pokes. At the age of 13. Under the influence of massive amounts of cheap whiskey. Done with a syringe and India Ink. On my fingers. I didn't do any for a while. Then around the age of 18, while running from the law...I decided to make it a weekly thing. Done with my hobo friends. While sitting on the sidewalk. It was a "bonding" thing. I let a 15 year old runaway tattoo my face. Then I took him to SF. He disappeared one day. Then about 10 years later, I ran into him again. In Dallas. He was successful at whatever job he had. And a member of Half Dead. That was well-known for giving people hand-pokes. Stick Pin Ben was his name. I left them alone for a number of years. Concentrated on getting old ones covered up. With things bigger and better. Then a few years ago I once again picked up my sewing needle and India Ink. Gave myself one as a symbol of a super good friendship with a person on here. It has a circus tent. And some letters. TSCB. Its Top Secret. Now that I am in my 30's. And have a lot of really nice tattoos, I have once again gotten back into these things. We have Sunday night dinner parties. After dinner, we give each other and ourselves tattoos. It's fun. And some good stuff has come out of it. Like memories. 3 of us have matching "WHAT WE DO IS SECRET" tattoos. Cute stuff. Here's one of those things I make. This thing on my leg took me a few hours. The only pic I have where you can see what a mess my fingers are. Blurry, but this thing is super cute. chopsticks did that clipper ship with LDN. When I was in London, duh. and rolling nowhere did that snake thing. in his kitchen. Heavy Metal Mustard Party. Save the remarks about how there's already a BAD TATTOO thread. Anyone else? Also. Everything about this is awesome.
  5. They will announce another 100+ bands soon. My little cousin is coming into town. Just to visit the family and see Austin. I have never met her. She is maybe 22. I'm gonna take her to some shows. Yep.
  6. Time is once again approaching. I might do some of this. If you are around, and into this sort of thing...you just might see me around. Or not.
  7. I will let you know whenever I finish the zines. Right now I have a lot of projects that I am working on at once. Just got word from a friend I ran into over the weekend that he wants me to make a mosaic for him. I still have about five others to do for other people. It's good to be busy.
  8. I ran into my ex-bff last night at a show. We were bffs from the age of 6-16. We stopped hanging out due to my drug usage. He now organizes a pretty well respected punk fest in Austin. He's made a name for himself and I am proud of him. For the first time in our lives, he told me he is proud of me. It was a good feeling. I didn't realize how much of a mess I was when I was living it. But the difference is visible to those around me. It's hard to see change when you are doing it on a day to day basis. But to step back and look at the progress you've made in a 6 month time span, it's pretty mind blowing.
  9. I had made attempts in the past to clean my life up. Some were successful to varying degrees. Nothing like what is happening now. I would quit heroin and crack and just smoke tons of weed and drink to excess. Or take pills. And convince myself that I was doing good. I still had problems in my life as a result of my vices. It's not as hard as people make it out to be. You just have to want it. And be willing to do whatever you are told to do. Even if you think it is total bullshit. I've buried literally hundreds of friends in the 20 years I was involved in that lifestyle. I am lucky to have a circle of friends that made it out alive and are all sober now. It's a good scene to be part of. I am grateful for the life I've been given.
  10. I was gonna cut my hair in a Chelsea recently. Then I remembered I have a head full of scars. And am in my 30s. And own very few Fred Perry's. So I nixed the idea. I think the idea was born after I got a really rad "OI" shirt at Goodwill for two dollars. Neat punks are neat. Upon second thought, I did make zines for a job I used to have in the late 90s. Working with a street outreach team and teaching squatter hobo kids how to shoot up and have sex safely. They were pretty good zines. I am currently working on a zine. Of my own personal secrets. And another zine. Of my personal stories and photos. Should be aight.
  11. Also saw David Leibe Hart from Tim & Eric. His band rules. He's a weirdo. Was in town doing a show for a buddy's bday with Greg Ginn of Black Flag. Was gonna meet up with them for lunch at Hooter's. But I decided I would rather sleep. Also ran into Tony Hundahl a few times. Gonna go get tattooed by him in the next few weeks. Stoked.
  12. This movie is so good. A friend of mine keeps trying to get me to do one of these things. I don't wanna.
  13. He was nice to me. His lady was nice to me. Maybe he's a shitbag to other people, but that isn't my concern.
  14. Also...between 2 people...we spent around $300 this weekend. The majority of which was on merch and food. You can't put a price on happiness or memories. It was well worth every cent.
  15. Taco Cannon. Like a Tshirt cannon. Only more delicious.
  16. Jerks are my key demographic. The heart and banner says "NOT YOU" My first professional tattoo, made when I was 18. I don't really care if people think I am arrogant or not. Or if people hate what I have to say and find it to be dull and predictable. The opinion of others isn't going to change what I know about myself.
  17. It was actually super successful. But you're right, Austin knows nothing about how to have a successful festival. Live music is a new thing for Austin, we're still figuring it out. Saw Hannibal Buress and John Benjamin the first day. Followed that up with Bun B. Then X. I got super emotional during the music. Longed for the days when people were screaming FREE PIMP C. X was amazing. David Cross was onstage dancing. You could only see him from a certain angle. But it was cute to watch that. Run DMC did two songs. But Jay's kids were out there DJ'ing..so that was cute. I think we also saw SuperChunk too. Saturday brought P.i.L. Super excellent. Johnny Rotten is still a really charismatic front man. If you would have told 13 year old me that 20 years later I would be standing 20 feet from Johnny Rotten, I would have called you a liar. It was such a surreal experience to be watching them, with downtown Austin and it's skyline as the immediate backdrop. I fell in love with my city all over again this weekend. We also saw David Cross do his stand up. And Wyatt Senac. They both were good. Obviously. Oh, we saw Wavves that night too. They were good. White kids in the age range of 18-24 loved the shit out of them. Good for them. Get that white kid money. Afterwards we went to my favorite bar and saw A Place To Bury Strangers or something like that. I would have wrote them off due to their band name. Thought them to be some Hot Topic pseudo-metal band in the vein of 3 Inches of Blood. But they weren't. They almost reminded me of Jesus & Mary Chain at times with the feedback. Then Black Moth SuperRainbow. Half way through I decided I was tired. So we rode home. And ate sandwiches and watched Too Cute on Animal Planet. Yesterday we got there for Eugene Mirman's standup. Dude is seriously my favorite comedian. After that we ate some popcicles and met up with friends. Fucked around a little bit because Rakim cancelled due to the hurricane. Fucked Up. KILLED IT. Dude did the entire set out in the crowd. With the people. As hardcore should be. Then on to TurboNegro. It's always exciting to see TurboJugend enmasse. From all corners of the world. I hadn't seen them in about ten years. Not since Hank Von Hell stopped singing for them. It was good though, as to be expected. High energy, good banter with the crowd. After the fest we went to another favorite club and saw a few bands that I don't remember any names. Then Ceremony played. Beyond awesome. Everything I could want in a band. Each band member has his own brand of charisma. The crowd went wild. It was probably the best band I saw all weekend. I also did little parts of a lot of other bands. A$AP Rocky..gave him a few minutes of my time. Did not like. Same goes for AARAB Musik. And some others. The Sunday/Odyssey BMX demos were rad. The food vendors they brought in were on point. We each left with about a carton of American Spirits. Saw a lot of friends. It was fun. Fun. Fun. Also...$200 for a weekend festival isn't much at all. If you're stressing over $200...then I feel bad for you son. With the wristband, you also get in to night shows. Which happen from Thursday to Sunday and are about 50 bands each night. It's actually very reasonable.
  18. IT seems like more dudes would be into fat chicks. At least it's a pretty solid bet she will cook you a meal. (talking from personal experience as a thick chick)
  19. TurboJugend Austin STAND UP! Denim Demon forever.
  20. This will wrap up the weekend. Burger City is also doing a lot of real awesome stuff lately. He's got a whole scene going. Straight forward rock and roll for the kids. There is gonna be an entire generation that Burger City will be their youth. It's cool to see something like this happening and really taking off and getting success and respect. PS. This is so super good. Despite the unfortunate band name. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UX1Ka8bEeC8
  21. The dudes that put this together do a stellar job. 90% of the awesome shows that get booked in Austin can be credited to the Transmission Entertainment dudes. They deserve all the success they have. Hard work pays off. I should be showering up and getting dressed for this. Instead of drinking coffee by the pint and watching cartoons with kids. It will all come together. I will just get ready in the car on the way there. The weather is beautiful out. This weekend is gonna be so so so good. FFF>Chaos In Tejas>SXSW>ACL Austin is just one fest after another. No complaints here. It does make traffic and parking a hassle. But bikes are better, anyways.
  22. There's also a Free Ride put on by Odyssey & Sunday bikes. I'mma take my Sunday Funday down there and ride with Aaron Ross. Chea.
  23. It will be fun. I don't know anybody that has been disappointed in the past. I'm stoked. Dwarves. OFF! X TurboNegro. Beach Fossils. Bun B. Eugene Mirman. Hannibal Buress. David Cross. WEIRD AL TRIBUTE BAND!!!! Yeah. I am so in it to win it. I was supposed to go last year. Mainly to see Danzig Legacy. I ended up opting to sleep all night. And let the tickets just sit there at Will Call unclaimed all night long. So it goes. This time will be different.
  24. http://funfunfunfest.com/artists So. Any of ya'll going? Should be super good.
