  1. i told him the fill is what brought it out, he wasnt really feeling the piece though. it came out good though.
  2. i got the rest, ill post them up between tonight and tomorrow
  3. some of what he did in one of my books: the stickers are his as well.
  4. yea newkon, you're like the toyest of the toys here...it's a wonder how you've managed not to be banned for all that toy crap you post up. seriously though ginzer, it looks like you're trying to run before you can even crawl. practice until you get the basics down, then post in the toy threads... there really is no point in you making your own thread, like newkon said it just takes up space. the toy thread as well as the other threads were created for a reason. you will get a lot better advice there than you will making your own thread...
  5. yea, because the mods are the only skilled writers on this site right?. E_B_A gave you the best advice you could ever use. you're the one who's being hard headed about it. it really does get annoying when people want to make threads about themselves when their work is sub-mediocre at best. there are plenty of threads for you to post in, and like newkon said, if you're dope and people wanna see it, someone will make a thread about you... we're trying to help you, at the same time everyone is getting really tired of telling people like you the same thing thousands and thousands of times. you may be happy about what you did, but there are FAR FAR better writers on here that know otherwise... i could go on but i really don't think it's worth it since tomorrow someone else is probably going to do the same thing again, and the cycle shall have to repeat itself... still don't want to listen? go lookup some of newkon's work for example and see if you still think we don't know what we're talking about...
  6. thats dope. it looks really clean, and doesn't have too much going on to throw you off.
  7. yep, that's the truth. you can buy a super deluxe prismacolor marker that costs $20 and that won't mean anything. without practice, you wont have the skills to use the marker effectively. a good quality marker makes your work look better, but it doesn't actually make you better. practice is the most important factor in getting better in anything you do.
  8. thanks for the comment, but i really don't think i'm all that good. there are plenty of other writers on this site WAY better than me (newkon, labrat, etc...) i'm just trying to catch up. sorry if what i said earlier came out wrong. i thought you meant that you bought sticker paper because of its thickness to put under the page. i know what you mean about your blackbooks. i feel the same way. 1 of the three books i have filled is filled with tags from other writers, sketches, stickers and a few full colored pieces. i think i value that book the most because its my first book and shows how i got better etc... plus it has quite a few well known writers in it. the second one has probably only about 4 tags from other writers, and the rest are pieces ive done and stickers. i used it more of a place to get my ideas down and try out different things. the third has only full colored pieces in it. on the sides where the markers bled through, i got sticker paper, and either did pieces on them like you do and stick them on, or make different ramdom stickers and place them neatly on the page. this is what i plan to do with my other books as well. the only thing i hate about the first two books is that a good bit of the pages dont seem complete, like i didnt use them as effectively as i would have liked. so now i try to make my books as complete as i can (to the point where im satisfied with the stuff inside). i have a book where i just mess around and get my general ideas down, then i transfer those ideas to the other book. ok, to sum up this long rant, i get what you're saying.

thanks for the comments. i made it disproportionate on purpose. i made it for an explanation in the blackbook techniques thread, so i wasnt really too serious about making it perfect and didnt spend that much time with it. it served its purpose though.
  10. oh, i see what you mean. i usually just cover up the side that the marker bleeds through with stickers. i have 3 bbooks filled and 4 empty ones so im not too worried about blank pages yet.
  11. you dont need to BUY paper to put under the pages. a sheet of regular printer paper works just fine. put two if you want but one should be good enough. 2 sheets of loose leaf works too. when your done with the paper, you dont need to throw it away, just fold the paper and put it in your bbook for when you need to use it again. here is a pic of the other side of the page for the character:
  12. i just noticed i didnt add details to his back area between his shoulders so ill do that area quick and post it up.

not done with this yet, and not really happy with it either, but oh well....
  14. ok back to techniques: here is a character i did to explain my process (yea i didnt really have anything better to do today so i decided to make this for 12oz  )... im not really happy with it but it gets the job done. 1st: here you see that i sketched out the pic and started to outline it. 2nd: here is the sketch completely outlined with the shadows filled in. 3rd: i begin coloring the pic. i divide it into sections as i always do so if i have to stop, i can just finish the section and continue whenever im ready, leaving no marker lines showing where i stopped and where i started. in this pic, the hand is one section. 4th: here is the pic completely colored. i didnt begin any detailing yet (except for the head so that i remember how i want the shadows to be.) i just laid the base color of the character. 5th: here i start to darken certain areas and use a white color pencil to add highlights to his muscles. 6th: and here is the pic with most of the detailing complete. and that's what i did in about 3 hours, minus all of the interuptions i had. there's still more to be done though. (color in the visor, sword, background, etc...) i started to feel lazy after i started adding details so i stopped at that. i guess ill add a background and finish it a little later (that's if any of you guys want me to post up the finished pic). and here are the markers i use: design, design2, prismas, decos, sharpies, prisma pencils... i had some chartpaks and a few copics, but i used those up quick so i dont have any more. chartpaks, copics and designs are the best markers imo. i just have so many prismas right now i guess i have no other option than to use them. ill get my hands on some more copics and chartpaks sooner or later though... hope this was helpful. let me know what you all think.
  15. i've never racked anything from the store either. a lot of "hardcore" writers believe that you have to rack in order to call yourself a real writer bla bla bla... the way i see it though is that getting busted and getting a record for something that costs $3.00 just isnt worth it. i understand that after a while buying markers can get expensive,, but i still dont think its really worth it. a good thing to do is go on ebay and buy off of there. there are a lot of good deals on copics and chartpaks on there, all you need to do is look. i've bought makers from this one guy on ebay a few times, now he gives me good deals on markers since i buy from him often. a few weeks ago i got 72 prisma and designs from him for only $25. if you rack and you're good at racking, more power to you. you're good at what you do and can save yourself some money. i honestly dont rack because its not like i plan to spend $30+ on markers each visit to the store. i usually dont buy markers all at once. i just bought a few and my collection started to grow. when im at the store i plan only to pick up the colors i need or think ill need. i dont mind spending $10-15 a visit, and i buy markers about once a month or two. so if you're asking about how to rack, i think you should ask yourself "do i really need to rack them because i honestly cant afford the markers, or do i want to rack them because it's the cool graff thing to do?" like i said, i dont do it because i dont think it's necessary for me to do so. if i cant afford them at the moment i do without. i know a lot will probably disagree with what i said, but oh well thats just my opinion. damn...i just realized i need to stop with the long explanations, its probably annoying you guys  ill try to cut back.
