  1. Got this guy sitting in the fridge right now, anyone tried it yet? 50/50 blend of arrogant bastard and double bastard (which I also have in the fridge waiting to be drank), oaked, and double dry hopped.
  2. I recall seeing a flick of some ridiculous nise highway spot a few years back, a fill-in in the center divider, on top of a a support beam or something. I wouldn't mind seeing that again... awesome thread anyway.
  3. this thread is outrageously good already
  4. I picked it up just outside Boston last Thurs. My friend at the local craft beer destributor informs me that it shipped mid-last week.
  5. Drinking this right now. Pretty unsual, listed as Belgian Strong Pale ale but it has a bit of a sweet, lactic brett taste in there. Also reasonably low (for the style) on carbonation, vaguely reminds me of what it would taste like if you cobined a tripel with a flanders red. Worth a shot, I picked it up in Brooklyn this past weekend. On the Nogne-O note, I tried one last week, I was quite drunk already and I'm having trouble recalling which it was but I'm pretty sure it was the God Jul. And I remember that it was disgusting and tasted like burnt rubber/bandaid. I'll give them another shot, though.
  6. Having that ouija piece pop up at that particular spot was pretty damn exciting for those of us who were toys living in the area around then. Too bad to hear it got fucked up after all these years... On another note that Jimboe is awesome.
  7. The "I won't believe it unless I can prove it" mindset you're talking about is not holier than thou, it's the scientific method, and it's what scientists do. It's what makes scientists different from alchemists and magicians, and it's also the reason we have modern medicine, chemistry, and technology. It's not elitist or condescending for scientists (or anyone else) to apply the same standards of empirical evidence to the hyphothesis that God exists.
  8. I'm gonna guess coriander, but I'm not sure. It's supposed to be a belgian "single" - i.e. a smaller beer than a dubbel or tripel. I was pretty disappointed when that beer came out, replacing one lackluster beer (portsmouth lager) with another one, but it's not that bad. Overall I think Smuttynose is a great brewery, I lived in Portsmouth for a few years and I still think of those guys as my hometown beer, especially when the competition is redhook, which pretty much sucks across the board. I think the Shoals Pale Ale, IPA, and Robust Porter are as good as the particular style gets... don't get me started on the Hanami Ale, though, which is the other weak spot in the smuttynose line up and probably one of the worst beers I've ever tried.
  9. You're crazy. I loved that beer. I picked these up last night: The stone and the Yulesmith were great. I haven't tried the odyssey yet, but I hear good things... lets hope it lives up to the $17 I paid for it.
  10. rediculous emits... this must be the best thread on 12 oz right now.
  11. I tried the Barleywine at the American Craft Beer Fest... it was excellent.
  12. My work just started stocking this. Meh... decent session beer I guess, and I suppose its a decent beer to drink outside on a hot summer day. This whole style seems pretty lackluster to me - "american pale wheat ale", AKA american hefeweisen. Lacking in everything that makes a real German Hef interesting.
  13. That turdl esko link wall is DOPE!
  14. that indentation where the end of the V goes into the O on that last revok is cool.
  15. Tonight's beverages: Started with a standby, the Chimay Rouge. Currently drinking this, Monk's Cafe Flemish sour brown ale. I get a ton of wood, earth, and barnyard on the nose - really funky. Not as sour as I expected... I had a flemish sour from Ommegang recently that was really, really sour. This beer is actually pretty sweet, which balances out the sourness nicely. Lots of interesting old, over-ripe, dried fruity flavors.
  16. Tried this at ACBF last weekend, oooh wee.
