  1. Back in college, drawing in class
  2. Are my letter Toy or are they simple? Yeah, I know I need to start working on my lettering, been focusing mostly on handstyles and throwups, more um... practical to me. I like my stuff being legible but I guess I could put more time into making it more complex. *shrugs* Progressions comes from practice. Thanks for the input.
  3. Its easy to make something look "dope" when you have a marker and not a pen. You talk about consistency but look at your own tags. Hell, no disrespect, but how is someone suppose to read that? Sure dude, its got style and flair, and impressive as hell considering its one line, but its a different style. Sure, there are flaws in the handstyle above. Like the "R" in no one ever listens isn't the same as the other R's. Its not perfect, but considering most the other trash on here, I think its fairly impressive. And its legible. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
  4. Dude, word to it all. Thats the first thing in this thread worth looking at in months.
  5. Hey Q, I dig that blue one alot, with the floating kind of spirit burning things around it. Also the first one in your two picture post is pretty cool too, lots of flow and style. I like it when you bend the M in rather than have it jut out. The brown and yellow one just seems rushed, doesn't really stand up to your other pieces, ya know? It is kinda obvious you didn't put much time into it, but hey, we all have pieces like that. Overall I think you got a lot of flow, but I am not feeling that E at the end of your name (I am assuming your name is Masou. Its just that little extension thingy for the upper bit of your E, just doesn't fit your style, in my opinion. But other than that dude, firm foundation, good flow and connection, legible. You can pretty much take your style anywhere from here. I really like the blue one though. Actually, I think all three of those first pictures rock. Props.
  6. Style is described by some people as grace under pressure, making the impossible look easy. Your letters look kind of forced, like you aren't comfortable with them. You are trying to go for all these weird ass connections and funky letters and it just aint working for ya. Remember where style came from, hand styles. Practice that shit over and over and over again, see how your name flows around itself. People think its boring but its a lot of fun, you just got to figure out how your letters fit together. Don't try to be fresh and bold and orignal, be clean and confident. Ever look at freights? Your style should be aiming for that. Legible, simple, clean, bold. And stick with one style, like, you keep on changing it up from what I See. Practice one particular way of drawing, tweak it this way and that way, you will start to understand how your letter fit. And no offense, but the C overlapping the A looks horrible. But really, why do you draw? Do you do it to be cool? To stick out? Because everyone else is doing it? Or because you want to, because its fun, because the colors speak to you, because when you close your eyes to sleep at night you see half a dozen styles you know you can't do yet? If you really love it, you will just do it and progression will come. My suggestion is lay off the connections, space your letters a little bit apart and work with it. Besides, its a new name, give it time. Graff ain't easy.

    throwups

Not half bad for being stoned out of your mind, and being stoned rocks with ideas. However execution is very hard. Try it again sober. And keep on trying it. Like do it a dozen times, look at it, see what you like and what you don't like, and then try again. Fill pages and pages with it. Usually for practicing tags and throwups I don't even waste space in my blackbook, I just do it on lined paper. Maybe take it a little bit simpler? *shrugs* And look at the people around your town, see what they are doing, "bite" their style a little, which is to say let it influence what you do. You will find that you take their style and make it your own, incorporate it and such.
  8. My handstyle. I write Deca.
  9. Dude, all those throws are rocking my face. Mad inspiration from this post. I don't think I have quitely muttered "my god" under my breathe more than I have while looking at this post. Pure fucking style.

^^^ Personally I think that the lower bit on your E is a wee bit too fat. But thats just my opinion.
  11. Ever hear of a writer by the name of Rezine? Some french dude, I think he is a god with a spray can. Anyway, artcrimes is down, but if you go to http://images.google.com/images?q=Rezine+graff&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&start=20&sa=N&filter=0 You can see a few small flicks of his works. You remind me a lot of him. He focuses on calligraphy. Maybe give you some ideas of where to take your shit.
