I grew up around gang culture all my life. It was essential to survive in the city depending on where you lived. It was the difference between getting your ass beat everyday or getting walked all over. I hung out with people from different gangs because sometimes a phone call was enough to stop your ass from getting your head bashed in for walking down the street. I saw countless people get their ass beat, shot at and even killed because of these things. For some people that was their only family and it wasnt just latinos it was people of all races. You want to work a 12 hour a day making $10 an hour or do you want to slang and make more money then most people in your neighborhood? many of the guys I grew up with have grown up started families and have moved on from the lifestyle. The ones who have stuck around are either dead or in and out of jail. the problem with gangs is as soon as you take leadership away then you end up in a power vacuum and factions that answer to no one. Now you have a bunch of fucked up kids who have seen way too much shit before they're even 18 with access to weaponry and a chip on their shoulder. People who are angry and feel that the world owes them something The only way to stop it is kicking their door in and going after each and everyone of them. although that isnt as easy as it sounds. Who gets to decide who will be the people on their list and what are the chances mistakes wont be made. what are the chances that my door wont be kicked in because of where I live, the way I dress, the way I talk hell maybe I just said hello to someone. That being said I am not willing to sacrifice my personal rights and freedoms just because of that small percentage. once again sorry for the lack of organizations run on sentences and bad grammar.

Chicago aint bad on occasion you see small homeless groups but nothing crazy the way you see it in the warmer states. The first time i saw a homeless community in california my jaw dropped that shit is wild. although I understand why some people would rather be homeless in california then chicago. I have a few friends out there some that say they've actually tried to help these cats and they rather just not work.

@misteraven this is true but it segways into the fact that cities like Chicago where I currently live in make it amazingly difficult for people like ourselves to own firearms of any kind. As of recently its gotten a bit better and your able to apply for a CCW but it isnt always guaranteed. On ocassion there will be a news story of one of the good guys with a gun actually being able to protect himself. I have a few friends who are ex military who conceal carry on a daily in the city and they also have a wide range of small and long arms. I listen to the police scanner when I'm bored just to hear whats going on around the neighborhood and at least once a day in my area there's a call in for shots fired. The laws have done nothing to curb gun violence and the only people who carry are people who shouldn't be carrying. The only people who dont believe in arming themselves are the people who dont get to listen to the police sirens and ambulances rushing to a seen everyday. I watched a car jacking unfold in front of me two summers ago the girl it happened to nearly got dragged down the street. luckily she let go as he took off or I wouldve had to ram the car. After it was all said and done I felt completely helpless theres not much you can do when you when you're outnumbered 3 to 1

No argument there I personally do not believe in open borders but I do believe they should bring back programs that allow people to come work and go back. The country can benefit from added tax revenue. Governments should be doing more to keep their people employed in their own countries but that shit isn't happening either. Also it isn't cheap or easy to get over to the US illegally and I cant imagine the amount of money it would cost to get into canada. That is another reason why people aren't dying to get up to canada. but you are right that "No one has an inherent right to a better life in a country that isn’t theirs." But if they do it more power to them. I dont believe anyone has a right to prosper anywhere you either make it happen or you dont.

the income divide in mexico is ridiculous. Geography doesnt help the cause either. when my parents left their town they had no running water, no pave roads, very little electricity. This was back in the 70's The closest town was an hour walk the main road was a two hour walk. they decided to make the journey to the states illegally because they had a shot at a better life then they ever would have had there. Even if they had moved to the city there isn't much more promise for people with a lack of education they left their town with only the ability to read and write. Knowing they would be leaving to the states also was not easy. they didnt speak the language and you can never come back once you're here in the states. these immigration raids are nothing new either during the 80's my parents never went out. during that time period it was nothing out of the ordinary to get picked up by the INS while waiting for a bus or have them raid the factory you worked at. Most people dreamed of coming to the states only to work and then go back home. The reality is that for many that will never happen. Most will never make enough money to live a stable life here in the states. Their will kids will become accustomed to a culture and a language that they'll never understand. Ive seen parents who dont speak english unable to communicate with their own kids. Let's fast forward to present day that little town in the mountains now has electricity occasionally has running water and paved roads. amazing right? wrong all that did was make another source of income for cartels once the drug war kicked off . Im not saying the area was completely safe then either shit was the wild west where in one town there were mostly widows because the men would get killed for many different reasons. think of a small town person living in middle of nowhere america. No job No opportunity and there's a chance for them to get something just a little better in canada. they know the have to go in illegally and they know that they might get caught, they might not make it or die. no one leaves there homeland because they want to its because thats all you have left and All that shit is way better then what your current situation is. Coming to the states gave them an opportunity even if it meant working in factories for shit pay. My dad worked in a mercury mine in his teens, he worked in a tannery in mexico city and he worked pickin fruit. Mom worked in a factory here in the states for about 35 years until the company moved. They were out the door at 5am my entire childhood and worked a minimum of 12 hour days 5-6 days a week. My first real pay check was both of my parents 2 week pay combined. we were never poor growing up but we were definitely broke. We never needed government assistance or any of that shit. we always had just enough occasionally we had pizza on the weekends the even took us to the dells a couple times when they worked MAD OT. mom became a citizen in the 90's dad became a citizen in the 2000's they started the process in the 80's. Thanks to Reagan they've always had a soft spot for him because of that. my writing skills fuckin suck so my apologies for all the grammar and punctuation errors and lack of organization.

woke up at 7 am satruday morning to find my car leaked trans fluid all over the damn driveway and I dont feel like dropping the cover to replace the rubber O-ring on the aftermarket transmission selector. Some cardboard will have to do for now. I also couldn't remove a spark plug due to the headers not allowing the socket to go in all the way. Now I have to modify the socket to change out the spark plug.
