  1. I taught my students the Drake song. Young French kids like Drake. They sing along to it with thick French accents. You would enjoy.
  2. recovering from a horrible hangover, waiting to liquidate my stomach's contents of last night's kabob.
  3. sorry to be the voice of un-fun here, guys, but... sorry kid, I don't think you get a Nekst shirt unless you kind of at least knew the guy. so no, you can't have one.
  4. Interesting post Theo. Well I began my post teaching English in France about a month ago, and like many of yous I had never really considered the ridiculousness of my native language. But, like someone else said, all languages when logically examined have their own quirks. As for the French/Romance/English language thing, English and French are actually quite related, I'd say at least 40-50% of common nouns and a fair amount of verbs have a similar root or a related, often outdated but recognizable origin. And the two languages borrow a lot of words from one another. That being said, of course no one is going to take a word like clique and pronounce it with a French accent. It sounds fucking stupid. Just like when talking about the weekend, in French, it's le week-end and is pronounced with a French accent, dropping the d at the end. Not pronounced with a English accent. Nothing makes a Brit cream gravy in his pants (that's British English for boxers, or underwear for us unsophisticated Americans) than the superiority they feel from hating on US EN.

  12. I gave up and just refill a gallon jug that I bought at Walgreens for $2. Then again, I do live in New Yawk and the water is pretty good. Down with fracking in NY!
  13. Been waiting for someone to create a 12oz philosophers corner. Propped. The works of Plato are a great way to start. They're written in dialogue form so they read fast, and they give insight to the development of Western society, the Greeks and the concept of the good, what it means to be virtuous and so forth. Logical development of an argument plus Socratic logic will blow your socks off, man. Made a deep influence on how I think and analyze my small world around me. Be forewarned, though, there is a lot of material about dudes fuckin' each other in the ass. The Trial of Socrates is a good, short read to start.
  14. I got locked up in Southfield once. From what I remember from my various trips to Detroit (twiddles handlebar mustache) before it was a cool city to bomb there it was Money, Turtle, Kosek, Eloaf and another guy who wrote Fire (or something similar) who had it on smash. There were others that I can't recall as it has been a few years since my last visit, but Detroit style always stood out to me. Kinda like west coast with illegal burners everywhere but still very midwestern, very inclusive. That being said, the Detroit of my memory was a very ghetto environment to be around.
  15. A friend of mine that I grew up with bought a square block in Detroit for like 25 grand. I'd say the biggest downside of buying a house in Detroit would be living in Detroit.
