  1. the sad part: I know EXACTLY what that kid is going to be like when he grows up.
  2. oh yeah..? (not my personal opinion, but I just laugh whenever I get a chance to post that pic)
  3. and the fact that a 6th tier team was tied at the half...? WOW! just WOW. A good friend of mine is coming back from a Brit Football trip in a day or two. She got to see a match at Anfield, and also watch her beloved Queens Park Rangers win (not over Liverpool, duh)
  4. LIVERPOOL was given the fright of its life by Havant and Waterlooville yesterday, before beating the non-league side 5-2 in an astonishing FA Cup fourth-round tie at Anfield. The part-timers from the Conference South, six divisions and 123 places below Premier League Liverpool, twice led the Reds. But a hat-trick by Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun denied Havant the biggest upset in the cup's 137-year history. Havant, which normally plays in front of about 600 fans, stunned the 42,000 at Anfield when Richard Pacquette put the visitors ahead after eight minutes. Liverpool equalised in the 27th minute when Brazilian Lucas Leiva scored with a 30m shot, but Havant was back in front four minutes later when an Alfie Potter shot took a deflection off Reds defender Martin Skrtel. Benayoun levelled in the 44th minute before making it 3-2 with his second in the 56th minute. The Israeli completed his hat-trick before striker Peter Crouch made it 5-2 in the 90th minute. Havant manager Shaun Gale was a proud man. "You have dreams and beliefs and we came here today and thought we might get something," he said. "We knew the enormity of the task, but to be twice in front at Anfield takes some beating. It would have been nice to go in 2-1 ahead at halftime, but my lads have been magnificent today and I am proud of them. It has been a fairytale." Holder Chelsea reached the last 16 with a 2-1 win at Wigan, while Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Middlesbrough advanced with a 2-0 win at League Two Mansfield Town, but Derby lost 4-1 at home to Championship struggler Preston North End. so some common guy with a day job scored the first goal against Liverpool at Anfield. Could you imagine that? His city should build him a giant bronze statue
  5. Zidane eager to return to football Sun, 13 Jan 2008 00:55:35 Zinedine Zidane says he is looking forward to a return to the world of football, but has not decided in what way he should do so. "I have no goal but coming back into football, I would like that," he told L'Equipe Magazine weekly in a rare interview released on Saturday, but added, "Then, in which way, how, I don't know." Zizou retired after the 2006 World Cup final in Berlin, where he was sent off for headbutting Italy's Marco Materazzi. "I would have liked to go out in a different way but it's done, that's the way it is," he said about his bitter experience in Berlin. "I'll have to put up with it for all my life. Having to talk about it over and over again is irritating. That's why I don't like giving interviews," he added. The 35-year-old son of Algerian immigrants won the 1998 World Cup with France on home soil. "Talking about it 10 years later still gives me the shivers," he said, adding "I was 26 and we had the best team in the world - it was extraordinary. To share that with millions of people was magic." Zizou said after his retirement, he was involved in a project to create a sports complex for the children in Marseille, the city where he grew up. AKM/HAR ----please please please
  6. Here's news: Canada's getting the Gold Cup. it could be a rumour, but it's a great rumour!
  7. I'm really looking forward to the Next Euro. will Greece make it twice in a row....? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH......
  8. damn.... pinup. haven't thought of that guy for a while. Well since that old World Cup thread.
  9. I've gotta take the other side to this one. There's always clients coming into the office with dogs, and the whole building has a no-dogs policy. The building manager gives me shit for letting them do it, but what am I going to say to a client? "Sorry, you can't bring that dog in here. Okay, so long money."
  10. there was a game last year that was in really heavy fog. it was amazing. AAAHHHHHH.... I knew there's be a Toon somewhere around here. check these fans - -Olympique Marseille.
  11. I'm not sure if he's coming back next year.
  12. Vancouver is all about the olympics. Montreal could have a team before them. Hell..... the Montreal Impact draws more fans that some MLS teams. Just cut off the USL patch and add a new one. Everyone heard the Drew Carey thing about the Seattle team right? General Manager's will be elected every 4 years by the ticket holders. How crazy is that? Crazy like a fox!
  13. some video footage: http://www.southsidejumpers.org/med...raft_2008_1.mov http://www.southsidejumpers.org/med...raft_2008_2.mov So the guy who everyone thought was going to go first, Toronto picked up 7th. Good for them. Internationally.... Holy shit Arsenal! and who said AJAX? I know a few feyenoord guys and they are crazy!
  14. I think we scored HUGE with Julius James. That guys could be the next Mo Edu, but better! Plus it's good to get a solid defensive end, which we now have in spades. sidenote: there's a tourney in Charleston SC mid-march. I'll be there.
  15. sidenote: there's a movie called 'the Other Final' where this Dutch guy organized a match between the last and 2nd last place teams in the FIFA ranking. It was Bhutan Vs. Monteresat (sp) and a great flick about the simple joys of the game.
  16. Senegal did take it up in '02. I think they beat (or drew with) France and that led to france not advancing out of their group.
  17. agreed. Chicago's got such a classic sound. here's a side story: I found about a 70 white label records in the loading bay at work that used to belong to DJ Sneak. They were all promos from the Winter Music Conference in 2003. Another lucky score!
  18. when I got the records home it was like 1:00am so I said I wasn't going to play any until the next day. Then I saw that record. It's from '89 and it's the legendary House track where the tempo slows down mid-track and there's the sound of a woman moaning away in a highly erotic kind of way. It's a legendary track! - that's the track, no idea about the video though.
  19. ^ I gave the boy george away to a girl, so it's still going to be good for me (even if I don't have to listen to it)
  20. I got about 200 pieces from her, gave away some doubles and some Boy george singles (I'd never play them) and there are like the top 30 of what's left.
  21. still have my copy kicking around somewhere. damn... that was a decade ago?
  22. so an old friend is moving away, and I get to keep her old records! where the vinyl junkies (and the vinyl junkie himself) at these days?
  23. hahaha... less than a page in and Raven and I are on opposite sides of the fence. here's the first part of the Ginga flick
