  1. Man, my problem with working out is that I am tired all the time.

I wake up early in the morning (5:00)

Ride to work (4 mile ride)

Then I work and I am zoned out...sometimes my job can be stressful and when I need to work out I am just so spent that I dont

So I just ride home (another 4 miles) and sit on the couch and watch TV

I worked out last week but this week I am just to tired to do it, any suggestions?

    TRY SOME CAFFEINE BRAH

AND MAYBE EAT MORE THROUGHTOUT THE DAY

  2. do squat contests happen on smith machines? (wait, you didnt even know the name of the machine, but anway...) do you see guys squatting any decent weight with their feet shoulder fucking width apart? if your feet are shoulder width apart, you are mostly using your quads.

if you actually think that squatting on a smith machine and on a monolift or squat rack is the same, i just dont know what to tell you. you should just probably stick to yoga.

so lets recap... you didnt even know what a smith machine was called. you think that keeping your legs shoulder with apart is the proper way to squat. you think a bench puts you "90 deg" yet you cant perform a proper depth squat because your knees hurt, most likely from squatting like an idiot asking for injury on a smith machine.

the reason why i know this? because i had knee problems, low back problems and lower quad aches from using a smith machine and listening to guys like you. once i learned proper technique, i havent had an ache in 2-3 years.

lots of olympic lifters and unequipped powerlifters squat with a shoulder width stance. the other day i saw a guy squat 590 for reps with a shoulder width stance and he was supersetting with leg presses too.

  3. Someone please answer me this:

Why is it that we are only supposed to be able to pack on 5-10 pounds of muscle a year

via weight training but folks fresh out of basic training (which is 12 or 16 weeks?) come out looking muscular?

    I don't get it.

IF YOU'RE SKINNY AND ONLY GAINING 5 LBS PER YEAR. YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. ALOT OF PEOPLE GAIN 30-40 EVEN 50 LBS IN THEIR FIRST YEAR OF WEIGHTLIFTING. OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN'T KEEP UP THAT UP FOREVER THOUGH OR EVERYONE WOULD WEIGH 300 LBS AFTER A FEW YEARS.

RDL'S ARE LIKE A STRAIGHT LEG DEADLIFT EXCEPT YOU KEEP THE BARBELL AGAINST YOUR LEGS AND PUSH YOUR HIPS BACK AS FAR AS YOU CAN AND ON THE REVERSE YOU EXTEND YOUR HIPS FORWARD AND FLEX YOUR HAMS AND GLUTES.

  4. A FIGHT, IS NOT A MUSCLE FLEXING COMPETITION.

IF ANY OF YOU ARE WORKING OUT FOR ANY OTHER REASON

GO TO THE JERSEY SHORE CASTING CALL.

IF YOURE TALKING ABOUT A BODY DOING WORK.

    ArnoldSchwarzenegger.jpg

real talk, which one you takin a punch to the face from?

    which one weighted up?

    which one did work.

suck a hand full of dicks, and get your face worked.

cause its probably a better look than my hands on you B.

WOW YOU SOUND REALLY GNARLY. OBVIOUSLY YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND MY POST. THE GUY I POSTED IS AN MMA FIGHTER. MIKE TYSON LIFTED WEIGHTS ALSO.

  5. I just started and my trainer told me I need to change my routine to all body weight exercises or else I'm going to injure myself.QUOTE]

I'M NOT SAYING YOU NEED TO LIFT WEIGHTS BECAUSE THERE'S PLENTY OF BOXERS WHO NEVER LIFTED WEIGHTS, BUT THAT STATEMENT IS BULLSHIT.

EVEN ISOLATION EXERCISES AREN'T "UNFUNCTIONAL." IF YOU CAN DO TRICEP EXTENSIONS WITH 200LBS OR SIDE LATERALS WITH 70LB DUMBELLS THAT'S ONLY GONNA HELP YOU PUNCH HARDER.

WOULD YOU RATHER GET PUNCHED BY THIS GUY:

    Mariusz-2.jpg

OR SOME SKINNY GUY WHO CAN DO 1000 PUSH UPS?

AGAIN, I'M NOT EVEN SAYING YOU SHOULD LIFT WEIGHTS, BUT SOMEONE WHO MAKES BLACK AND WHITE STATEMENTS LIKE THAT IS PROBABLY AN IDIOT, OR AN OUT OF TOUCH OLD MAN,

  6. It matters because white rice has almost as much nutritional value as ramen noodles. Less vitamins than brown and fiber. Eat what you want, but don't act like it doesn't matter. It's the difference between carbs and complex carbs.

You can also make protein shakes without protein powder. Aren't you supposed to have a gram per pound of bodyweight? Jesus, you weigh over 300 pounds? You look like Bam Bam Bigelow?

I'M NOT DENYING THAT IT'S MORE NUTRITOUS. BUT IF YOU'RE ONLY TRYING TO GET BIGGER/STRONGER A LITTLE BIT OF MAGNESIUM AND A FEW GRAMS OF FIBER IS GOING TO MAKE ZERO DIFFERENCE.

i saw that news report about metals in protein shakes on the news, coincidentally, while at the gym working out.

eating enough protein from foods is possible to do, but when youre trying to eat up to 200grams per day, it becomes more difficult unless you use protein powder as a supplement.

sure, you can eat 6 or 7 eggs for breakfast, lots of shrimp, fish, meat, etc etc, but you just have to eat a whole bunch of it.

i only do a small amount of powder a day as a supplement, NOT as a replacement for protein....i just get enough protein to meet my daily requirements:

0.8 grams per kg body weight per day for a sedentary person.

1.0 grams per kg body weight per day for an athlete

as much as 1.2 to 1.4 grams per kg body weight for someone lifting heavy.

i do about 1.2 grams per kilogram (pounds divided by 2.2 will give you kg)

but certain people will take a lot of protein powder, and in the words of my old biochemistry teacher: "all that excess powdered protein people eat... they just end up pissing that shit out...they have expensive piss."

(yes, he used to curse during his lectures...which were at 8am every fucking morning for 5 months.)

THOSE NUMBERS ARE WAY OFF. DO YOU EAT ACCORDING TO THE FOOD PYRAMID TOO? YOU'D BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND ANY LARGE BODYBUILDER/POWERLIFTER/STRONGMAN/GUY AT THE GYM WHO EATS LIKE THAT. IF YOU LOOK AT THE WAY MOST PRO BODYBUILDERS EAT, MOST OF THEM EAT 500-6OO+ GRAMS OF PROTEIN. AND YOU'RE BIOCHEM TEACHER IS NOT A STRENGTH COACH, I WOULDN'T TAKE HIS ADVICE IN THAT AREA. BUT IF A SEDENTARY PERSON STARTED EATING WHEY PROTEIN ALL DAY, HE PROBABLY WOULD END UP PISSING AND SHITTING MOST OF IT OUT.
