Anybody just watch Kanye on the redcross special just now? First he pulled the media's card about black and whites "looting" and "finding food", respectively. Then he straight up goes and I qoute "George Bush does not care about black people." Mike Meyers was standing next to him talking as well, and dude just got this majorly exasperated look on his face. They cut the camera mad quick to get away from that.
  2. Nasty Boy is an awesome fit on this cd. So far thats my favorite.

Seldoon, Hey, a word that I think you need to consider. If you can get in there, try and go a back way. I hope you can get in and find who you need to, but please be careful and find a way in that is hospitable enough to make it reliable. Bring antibiotics, with the rampant water and contaminated water it would be a very bright idea to bring something to ward off infections. Roads in to the area are closed and they are turning away even marshals and other law enforcement officials are being turned away. An entire group from virginia was turned away. Also, is anyone else suprised at the stance that CNN has been taking. Just now I heard them discussing the concept of people dying because they are black. Also, im from houston and I know, along with fatalist that we are good people and will do what we can to help those that come here. I wish I were still there to go help, but I have already returned to school. They are opening the Reliant Center and Im sure that they will open the Toyota Center and maybe Minute Maid Park. Send that interview of mayor Naygen to anyone you know. Do just what he requested by keeping people talking. I know everyone is concerned, and I think that for the first time the majority of the country is on the same page. Lets make sure we all know whats the deal. im speechless honestly...

I just had a very odd night tonight. I'm going to tell the whole lot of it to just sort of elucidate the surrealness of it all. It isn't till the end that the story takes a relevant turn towards this topic. I'll try to keep it concise. So it is the night before I leave to go back to school. I decide to go visit some friends before I leave. Makes sense. As I walk in to their apartment I am suprised to find my two friends breakin up a 20 bag on their counter. One to lend a helping hand, I contributed towards their succes in the endeavor. Fast forward two and a half hours. I leave their apartment to return to mine. Upon the realization that there are no clear-eyes or visine in the apartment, I decide a late night run to Wal-Mart is a good idea. This also gives me a chance to pick up some last minute stuff for school. All is still good. I roll up to the Wal-mart to find the police sittin outside fuckin with some kids on the curb. Great. That's gonna be a fun place to walk into. So I go inside, find the shit I need, and get into the only line open to check out. The two women ahead of me have quite a bit of stuff. Ranging from baby food and clothes to food to bathroom toiletries. And they keep arguing. Pay no attention to that... Then comes the two drunk dudes behind me, talking about how they have completed an objective for the night. All of a sudden, one of them starts barking marching orders at the other. Of whom quickly takes stance in the isle and begins marching in place. Ahh... the bars have just closed. Makes sense. Look to see how much was still ahead of me. The women are still arguing, this time about how much the older one will pay for. Finally they get done with their purchase, and the older woman begins to explain to the counter person about how they are staying in an extended stay hotel. I quickly thought that it was a very odd thing to divulge to a cashier at Wal-mart. As I walked out to my car I realized the two women were from lousianna and were replacing necessities they had surely left behind in New Orleans. It was very sobering and to say the least sad. After reading what sara posted today about the Super-Dome, this was even more bleak and sad. Sorry to make it so long, and probably boring. But, I figured if that sobering moment were to be appreciated anywhere it would be here. RIP to those that have died and will die :o
  5. its that crazy street jumpin shit again. there was a thread on it a bit ago if im not mistaken. id dig it up, but im lazy.
  6. i wouldnt mind it as well, if you find it that is, and feel like sendin it to someone. aim- aimbiteshard
  7. balki's got it. couldnt remember the name. thanks balki.
  8. Yeah i was just being sarcastic. But i do know mf was part of a rap group during his early teen years. Just really cant remember the name of it. Its in some old elemental mag i have lyin around.
  9. alright this is how it is. you all have it wrong. Doom-MF DOOM aka Madvillian aka Victor Vaugh. aka from a previous early nineties teen rap group. He quit rapping for a period because of his older brothers death, which put his initial rap career into a hiatus. I cant remember the exact name of it. Needless to say, that is the history of MF Doom, and he is not from boston. Madlib- Madlib aka Yesterday's New Quintet aka Quasimoto aka Jay lib etc. is from boston, Does production for a lot of old MF DOOM albums, but then MF DOOM learned how to make beats and did a lot of the production for MADVILLAINY. Needless to say there are a few songs where madlib is introduced under his other aliases, where also MF DOOM has other aliaces. On "Bistro" Madvillain introduces viktor vaugh, madlib and yesterdays new quintet. Which in and of itself is composed of four(obviously) members, all with their own backgrounds and stories. This is Madlib. who developed the jazz group and he himself is all of its members. So what have we learned class? MF DOOM is seperate from MAD LIB. Two people but on the same level.
  10. seldoon- you hear bout zro puttin a big ol knot on the back of Tip's head? that shit was funny. Cham is fun to listen to. His new album sounds like its gonna be good. I read an interview with him last night were he was sayin he was mostly just tryin to focus on movin away from punchlines and moving more to correct the productional errors that came from Get Yo Mind Correct. Either way, Im lookin forward to it. Comes out on October fourth supposedly. Anywho, Zro is the shit regardless. His flow will always be one of the best from the south.
  11. <!--QuoteBegin-test pattern@Jul 10 2005, 04:36 PM his cell bill was like a quarter mil or some shit anyway 281 rep, son except i won't give out the other seven digits Quoted post Slim thug, chamillionaire and ZRO, three rappers from houston most worth listening to. jJux and test know whats goin on. This year is gonna be fun for houston. Either of you hear cham's new release "chamillitary"? Mostly hype for "sound of revenge" but rasaq had some interesting things to say bout paul wall.
  12. havent heard that... hmmm, need to find it
  13. Alright, One question: 1. Am I the only one that likes the whisper song by the ying yang twins? Seems like everytime I hear it with someone, they have nothin but bad things to say, just curious if I was the only one that likes it. 2. edit cus I missed one thread that explains this....Nermind, the Key part that is.
  14. I found out bout this site bout five six years ago through art crimes I think. I remember tryin to contact one of the webmasters of Artcrimes to ask em a question, and they couldnt answer me, but suggested that i ask on here given that there might have been members from the area i was askin somethin bout. I didnt join for a couple years, but like sarahyoulose said, its all bout lurkin and watchin the drama unfold. I keep comin back because the people are hilarious and there is a significant amount of knowledge here , just gotta sift through to find it.
  15. Ay Poop, you gonna make the trip all the way down to houston to snag a copy? If they are sent there that is.
  16. Texas Art Supply 2001 Montrose Blvd. Houston, TX 77006 (713) 526-5221 I would think sending only a few copies there would be a good idea, but for sure they would be sold.
  17. This is the same argument that has been brought up time and time again on this board. While most of it was under the context of a much broader political spectrum, this is nothing more than where your socio-political ideals fall. bobthebuilder- I'm sorry but I just do not find the logic in your arguments. A lot of it is the same rhetoric that has been spit for years about fixing lower class communities, and it hasn't done shit. Most social initiatives for inducing change within a lower class communities fail. How you ask do most areas that are not that great become better? Redevelopement. Take Houston for example, Third and Fifth ward are arguably some of the worst areas of town, and now (more so in Third than in Fifth) both areas are recieveing a lot of attention not from those that live in it, but developers and from upper middle class buyers. I'm not particularly saying that this is a means to help end the problems areas of a lower socio-economic standing have, but it is an example of how those that have more, as you were saying should not interfere, can come into an area, create change and make it a better place for most that are there. Anywho, my point to you is this, ignoring social problems of classes under yours is a recipe for national failure. In a governmental/economic system such as ours you HAVE to maintain some sort of varying class structure. The good part about having teams that are from different socioeconomic standings play eachother is that it gives a means for interclass social interaction. Samuel R Delaney has some interesting writings on interclass discourse. Pffft also made a good point about segregation. This is just a form of de facto segregation. Segregation does not have to be institutionalized to have the same effects. I have only one last thing to comment on, in one of BoB's last posts he talks about the concept of people merely bitching and not doing anything. In any society that is of a democratic form, social critique is the most valuable thing we have. Regardless of whether about twenty people on a message board arguing about a rather localized news story is gonna change much, the point of it is is that we are discussing it. In our arguments we are proving your exact notion wrong, in a free flow of ideas we are proposing, arguing, defending and negating any number of concepts about our world around us. THAT is the point of bitching about a problem, to get people talking about it. We are doing something about the problems we see in the world by bringing them up here. There are many different types of people on this message board, of all levels of education and, to some degree, of age. So I am sorry, but I feel that your feelings that when people bitch about things they are not actually creating change is a little short sited and ignorant. But you know, I rarely ever post, so I doubt people will even pay attention to this.
  18. anybody else find it funny that rather than just find a "hello" sticker, he drew out the format himself?
  19. I like beardo's ideas, I had actually thought of somethin like askaboutme.com, but I also think that maybe truestory.com would be good too. in my mind it appeals to the same humor and bravado that beardo was talkin bout tryin to get at. But maybe thats just me. I guess I like it cus it's the context under which I know that phrase, cus thats what people will find interesinng. They wil eventually end up remembering some of the general phrases that get used, like MERO's signatures at the bottom of his posts. I guess i just think it would be good to use one of those sig qoutes for the URL name. (edited for more content)
  20. So I figured out what was bothering me about your first two panels. I really like everything you have done except for one thing. It was previously mentioned that the orangish highlights on the rock in the second panel seem too vibrant. I disagreed with that at first, but now I think its right. Not for the same reason though. If you look in the first frame, the beginning of the rocks/canyon is on the right side, while a darker part of the sky is on the left moving brighter to the right. Now, if the light is permeating right to left, wouldnt those highlights on the rock be on the wrong side? I suppose that is assuming that the canyon the panels are taking the viewer through is moving from the right of the initial setting to the left. If so, I think the lighting is reversed.
  21. I have to say that I was duely impressed with the movie. As was already said, there were a few scenes that were a bit cheesy, but it was very cool. I was pretty happy.
