willy.wonka : dope, i hope you get something outta that shit. its a technique thats served me well over the years. its kind of a bastardazation of glen fabry's technique... NOUM, ethik : yo thanks guys, i'm jus' an old timer trying to grease the old rusty wheels.... here is something i did today...i did the linework in my book, scanned it and colored it in photoshop and painter. hope y'all are feeling this one...-c36 http://www.coro36ink.com/updates/sketchbook/paintoverleroyweb.jpg'>

willy.wonka: i use ink, colored pencils, and gouache paint, in that order. i find its the best way to get the most bang for your buck in a cheap ol' sketchbook. here is a tutorial on my technique:http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthrea...s=&threadid=566 hope this helps.-c36

updated thank you all very much for your kind words. i've been working on my letter shapes a lot lately...tryin to find my style a bit more...here is something i did in my book lastnight. http://www.coro36ink.com/updates/sketchbook/spaceletrs02web%5b2%5d.jpg'>
  9. i think dredz covered the basics very well. i'd like to add that a coat of gesso is very advantageous even on primed canvasses, as the primer kind of sucks. as far as brushes, i use primarily synthetics, and i like "flats" or "brights" as far as brush shapes. a good rule of thumb is to always use a bigger brush than you think you need, as it builds confidence and brush dexterity, the equivalent of can control. hope this helps...-c36

yo, i havent posted in a while, just finished this last night, and figured i'd post it here to get some feedback. tell me what you think...-c36 http://www.coro36ink.com/updates/sketchbook/spaceletsweb.jpg'>
  12. hey thanks to everybody who responded. i think i have a clearer idea of where i should go with these. all of your input is greatly appreciated. yes, i'm a featured artist on conceptart.org. i work in the video game industry as a conceptual and enviromental artist. graffiti is the thing that made me start to take art seriously, and i'll always be thankful to her for that. i started piecing in 92, and fell in love with the paint. while i do a lot of oil painting and digital work, i still keep a blackbook, and still try to get out and paint with aerosol as much as i can. i love and respect the artform, and owe all i have to it. IntangibleFame : glad you could use this thread for your little name dropping sesh. i asked for feedback on the letters i drew, not a poke in the chest by some "look how much i know" graffiti messageboard whore. where's your book? unless you can come up with something constructive to say, you jus look like a sad little hater to me. eseLokE1uno: i'm definitely gonna do some black and whites. i totally see what you mean, and i think i do camouflage alot. thanks again.-c36
  13. actually, yes i've been bombing coro since '91. and katsu is my dogs name :)
  14. hey all, i've been trying to get my letters up to par, and i dunno anymore. any feedback on what i'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. lets keep this constructive, bear in mind i am a 12 year graffiti vet, but my focus to this point has really only been characters and background elements, so i'm looking to balance myself out a bit. here area few letter sets i've done lately. personally, i think they all suck, and thats why i'm posting them. thanks-c36 http://www.coro36ink.com/updates/sketchbook/katsuweb.jpg'> http://www.coro36ink.com/updates/sketchbook/lets03-001web.jpg'>
