I read something about Mark Ryden once about he also prefers his work framed. Apparently he goes to great lengths to have it done too. He designs these really elaborate frames and has somebody hand carve them for him.
See:

and also there are a few good pictures of some of the frames on his website ... http://www.markryden.com
In person, his frames fucking blow everyone away. I've seen two galleries of his so far, and on the second one (that wasn't solo), his frames alone were better than 90% of the other work shown. amazing to see the detail and the work that went into each one. In his solo show there was also the sketches that the frames were made from. really interesting to see it from conception to completion.

a ratio used to describe the f stop difference between a highlight area and shadow area of a portrait. they are used to help establish depth and mood (contrast) of a portrait.
a 2 stop difference is a 5:1 ration. basically the main light source is 4 times brighter then a fill/ambient light
1 stop is 3:1
interesting, i have never heard that term before. i need to take some photo classes...i have registered for a digital photography class this next quarter so hopefully i learn some new terms such as this :D
Texas, what is your flickr name again? I can never keep them straight between there and here haha.
Ralphy, those are all in los angeles. It's just alright to shoot in i suppose. other cities offer way more imo than LA does though. It does happen to have a ton of protests (like the one below) that can be pretty cool.

honestly, my main advice is to learn about light ratios.
what is light ratio?

ether way....everybody ride a bike!
agreed!!!
:D

.....

damn that must have taken forever to post all those. anyways, nice shots nate.
-
naw i know people who ride single speeds with bull horns.
and plus the crank looks big so i thought it would have been a single speed
hmm, it must just be a fixie thing around here then. i dont think i have ever seen any bike, geared or single speed with bull horns unless it was a fixie.
-
well besides the fact that it has no dérailleur. it has to be with those handlebars. fixies look so bad ass with chopped bullhorns.
and a picture so im just not talking.
