  1. Akira has the best action illustration I've ever seen in a graphic novel/ comic book. It was also key in the crossing over of the Japanamation work into the mainstream US pop culture. Speaking from the perspective of a real comic book fan/collector/artist... it changed the way that I look at illustrative story telling. True king status. bump for pumping Akira.

Because it was a crazy rush job and I didnt do the research. It is a no no to put shit out that aint right but when the rush deadline calls you do what you gotta do. Besides...it's fiction.

any1 got any tips on drawing faces woman faces ?

Go simple with smooth lines. Keep detail in the nose to a bare minimum. focus on the eyes and lips and avoid detail in teeth.....unless your drawing Sandra Bernhardt. There are a handful of books that you can check out that give decent direction. Any of these "how todraw comics" is a halfway decent place to pick up a direction on a foundation level but don't expect to "learn how to draw" by following books. The bestest best way to truly learn is to spend the extra money and take a figure drawing class. That is truly the only place where you will learn how to draw the human form. Hope this helps.

I got a chance to chill with Mark Bode while he was tattooing my boy and I sketched the scene. He blessed the sketch with a lizard no less.

  6. Tracing isn't a bad way to learning line structure just as long as after you trace something a handful of times you make attempts at recreating the work on your own. When I first got into drawing years ago I found this to be a very profitable way to get my feet off the ground as well as helping me understand how one line smoothly flowed to the next. I'm not saying this applies to any work that has been posted here but I wanted to drop my two cents on the benifits of tracing as a learning tool.
