  1. i can't decide how much of a douche i would be if i laced my old 105 hubs to deep-v's...?

    thoughts?

These Wolber rims have seen better days....

On the subject of fixed gear freestyle: I think it's about as cool as long-boarding.

I ride my '88 Sirrus the same way I ride my T-1 (another possible reason why the Wolbers are on the outs)

  2. Are you talking about El Paisa on Myrtle and Irving?

    paisa-top.jpg

Their Al Pastor is pretty damn good, but I think they've fallen off. They used to do the tacos proper, now they gringo them up by using tomatoes and shredded lettuce and don't add the avocado sauce.

The truck that's behind McDonald's (right off the stop) is pretty good. I always get attitude when I go to the cart right outside the station so I stopped going there. The Chimi stand that is next to KFC is also damn good.

The taco place right off the Dekalb stop that looks like a diner is also really good.

If you like sushi, there are a ton of places, but if you want to save some money and drink some beers, I recommend going to Edo on E 17th (btwn Broadway and 5th). I went the other night and they had 50% off beers when you ordered food. Get the spicy roll combo and drink all night. It's right around the corner from Union Square.

i know that spot, but i was talking about the cart outside the door if you make a left immediately after going out of the turnstiles (onto wyckoff, on the sidewalk in front of the station).

  3. i'll try to post something remotely helpful:

    1) yeah, stay the fuck away from wall street. i'm from new york and i haven't gone to the empire state building or any of that other shit since i was really young. it's whatever. honestly, you won't really be missing much other than standing on a tall building.

    2) eat nothing but pizza. but, if you want something other than pizza: take the L to the myrtle-wyckoff stop, go out the entrance on wyckoff and get tacos and stuff from the truck out there. shit is cheap and delicious. make sure you go to the one on WYCKOFF... not the truck around the corner on myrtle.

    3) ride elevated train lines. all of them.

    4) go to coney island and walk on the boardwalk down to brighton beach. get food there.

    5) go to the cloisters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cloisters

    6) go to astoria, and take a photo of yourself in front of the entrance to rykers island. you'll be the envy of all your friends. if nobody has done that planking shit in front of the sign, you should do that.

    go to astoria park, too.

    7) go to the met (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_Museum_of_Art) and do NOT pay the suggested 20 dollar donation. give them a quarter.

beyond that, i don't know what else to tell you. don't buy weed in washington square park. and if you really want to go to the top of something tall AND times square, theres a hotel in times square with an open roof door and it's cool to hang out up there looking at all the idiots trying to get into the aforementioned times square tgifridays.

    hope this helps.

not for nothing, but if you want to avoid being bombed, hiding in the center of a college, mosque, childrens hospital, etc. etc. is kind of a good look.

still didn't work out for him. but that's kinda interesting.

  5. What's your budget?

I have a similar 2xu jacket. It's pretty and bright red, but I wouldn't wear it to the pub.

I'm trying to keep it in the $200-$300 range. I manage to get paint on everything I own at some point, so I'm hesitant to drop more than three bills on a jacket.

That 2xu is more in line with what I'm looking for.

Ideally, I could find a slightly lighter version of something like this Arcteryx:

    http://www.arcteryx.com/Product.aspx?EN/Mens/Jackets/Squamish-Hoody

... maybe with a slightly narrower cut. For that matter, does anyone own the above Acteryx? How is it?

  6. Anyone have any recommendations for a Spring riding jacket?

    Need something water/wind resistant.

Simple, well made, not too flashy... something that wouldn't look too strange if I were wearing it off the bike and walking around...

Been perusing some shops/online, but I haven't seen much that I really like.

  7. awesome from a design standpoint obviously, but on a practical level this house screams "I have lots of money and am shook about being robbed, please jump me while I'm getting out of my car outside the house."

    That.

Anyone with a torch/plasma cutter will make short work of that giant roll down gate.

If you're trying to build a fortress, you should line the rooftop with parapets. Dump scalding oil and greek-fire upon interlopers.

  8. Re: Genital Herpes....bummer

dodged this bullet so far. got kinda worried after some shit with my ex (who was the epitome of a sheisty individual). test said i'm clean, though.

be careful. theres people who fuck partners indiscriminately and will neglect to tell you about some shit like this. assholes.

About halfway through. I'm reading all the other books by Salinger I haven't read.

Did the same thing a while back. My favorite Salinger stuff is that which pertains to the Glass family.

If you haven't read it yet, check out Seymour: An Introduction/Raise High the Roof Beam Carpenters.

    Also: Franny and Zooey.

  10. ive been laid a few times from doing graffiti. met a girl across from me in the complex i lived at and she came down cause she was "having a bad day". we get to know each other a bit more and i smoke her out. somehow graffiti gets brought up and she says "i have been seeing this blah blah blah everywhere in this area"...i pretty much told her it was me and the tang was mine. i didnt even have to play the ocarina of time or anything. i was pretty suprised.

this might be in the top 5 things somebody has ever said on this website.

when you say that this girl who was having a "bad day" came over.... how, exactly, is it that graffiti was just "brought up" somehow?

was it brought up by you?
