  1. on sunday i didn't a durt trail ride and there was an 8 mile climb when i got to the top i was so sweety and then when you go down all the sweet evaporate adn it's cold as fuck... the best thing to do is to bring a trash bag or some plasic bag and stick it down your shorts covering your package so your shit doesn't freeze off.. trust me it works like a charm yeah it is nice being 18 and have a month off from college
  2. you guys are wimps it's been in the low 30's all week i have ridden a total of 8 hours in the past week or so. and my fixie is together those things rule!!!
  3. probably a 48cm or 50cm but go to your local bike shop they can help you with frame sizing
  4. depends if you want to by a fixie complete around 500 will get you a good one. if you by an old roadbike you can convert it for much less. 100 to 200 im not an expert on pricing some of the other guys will know better
  5. not that it means anything but to steal the 1000 post. you're not even an active poster of these tread im sure your fat go ride a bike for the first time since you were 10. FO
  6. ummm my bike has taken me up mountains over the appilation* mountains in virginia. don't really have and funny stories. well one. i was riding up swift run gab(a 12 mile climb) with my dad and it started raining halfway up the climb. so at the top of the climb is a bridge so we stopped in there to take a small rest and get out of the rain. this mini van probably mid 90's rolls under the bridge dude runs out of the car grabs his kid and they run over to were my dad and i are. all of a sudden the van bursts into flames. it was pretty scarry dude could of died but all was well eccept for the van. my dad and i go out of there before it exploded or what not. I also go to college in richmond va. and i trane for cyclocross in a park. one time i caught these two kids having sex in the wood. i felt bad because after i went by the first time i think they thought i wouldn't come back by but they were near part of my course so the second time i came around they jump apart it was funny. im sure he went limp fast. then on my last lap they were still there just talking. so i said." don't worry i wont come back this is my last lap." and the kid was said, "thank god" my dad goes on an annual ride with my bike club well only around six of them go but they start in charlottesville va on the appilation mountains and bike all they way to NC(not in one trip they do 60 to 80 miles a day) and they road boone mountain i think its some 20+ miles of climbing. i think it's boone mountain. they may have ridden a different mountain in the book one that was in the tour du pont. but he said it was one of the most enjoyable mountains he has ever climbed
  7. yeah i read the bood twice shit just makes you not want to complain anymore...and makes you want to ride
  8. ^^^^^ i don't know what to think someone needs to make up my mind for me or i need a beat to sing it to (is it a song) but anyways think of all the little boys and girls that got bikes for christmass ahh life as a kid wait im a kid hell yeah where's my bike at?
  9. like wise it was so windy and cold i could not feel my face for a good half hour. my 2 hour ride felt like 4 my friend rode my fixed gear today and he's all about getting one. the thing is i have some much bike crap at home i have enough stuff to put one together all i need is an okay frame any sites online to buy that stuff. all im looking for is an older road bike frame.
  10. the lower end campy stuff is still good and still cost a far amount. i am happy with my shamono crap the dura ace is nice but i have the next step down on my cyclocross bike and i haven't had problem with them yet.. yeah i get to build up a fixed gear with my dad over xmass break. fun stuff bikes are the coolest
  11. pinarello's are really nice. what kind of componites(sp) are you going to hook it up with.
  12. yeah i got some i have to get them developed first. it'll be a week or so before i can get them up.
  13. Thank god it is all over Well first off on friday i raced in the collegiate race, most of the riders between 19 (and me 18 the youngest out there) to mid 20's. I rode hard but conservative. I placed 18th out of 40 riders. my goal for that race was to finish in the top half. on Saturday was the juniors 17-18 race my goal was to finish top 15. I wasn't too tired from the race the day before but i road hard and consistent the whole race and finished 11th (out of 30 riders) out sprinting 12th place at the finish line. I was very pleased with my out come. it was the first time i have ever competed at this high of a level. the good thing was i was only a few minutes off from the leader and within less then 30 seconds of 7th,8th, and 9th,10th within 6 seconds. other then the person i out sprinted the next junior behind me was a minute thirty behind. so im up there with the top guys. so all and all i had one hell of a fun weekend also my little brother (10 years old) finished 2nd in the juniors 10-12. and my dad finished 3rd in the 50-54 the only bad part of the long weekend was my little brother came down with one of those 24 hours viruses. he was throwing up all Thursday night. and my mom was the next to get it on Friday. Then on Saturday night i spent the night with the toilet in the bathroom. i was going to race a third race the super cup(which is a 3 race series with races in SF , chicago, and Baltimore) but i was too weak and dehydrated to race. but i enjoyed watching the juriors to see what i need to improve on. also the elite mens national race and the super cup race will be on OLN(outdoor life network) sometime in the near future i'll let you guys know when it will be on. i still have for races in north Carolina so the season isn't over yet but i can't wait till i get to ride the roadbike in the mountains im aslo considering transfering schools so i can ride for a college with a good cycling team. im think up north like somewhere in philly or vermont, NH, Maine, but im happy going to school in richmond but our cycling team is a joke it's me and 2 other kids. congrats on all you kids getting married, best of luck. and wait to have babies
  14. i road a fixted gear for the first time today it was wierd at first but got use to it. but the hardest part was getting clipped in the peddles are all going around haha what a site seeing me clip in. but anyways yeah fixedgears are fun i just don't know what to do when i ride in the city with all of those cars
  15. do you know what kind of bike you could buy with 2095$$$ a damn good one. who needs a ring. but congrats! damn im only 18 i wonder when im going to get married. but bump because nationals are in 2 days. ahhhh
  16. not yet man i have the virginia state finals this saturday then the weekend after that(december 15th) i have nationals. i already have the shits thinking about the race :o
  17. go to your local bike shop they should know what to do and if they don't then don't buy a bike there. see all bikes are sized differently so each bike will fit differently but if you go to a bike shop you will get a general idea of your frame size. mountain bikes are sized in inches and road bikes are sized in centa-meters
  18. i was in washington DC for thanksgiving and my dad and I drove to baltimore to chech out the cyclocross national course. it's no different then anyother course i have done. they haven't set up the acual course because they don't want people to have an advatage by training on there. there are some nasty stairs we'll have to run up. If anyone live in Baltimore or close to it, it's worth the drive to come see the A race at 2:30 on sunday the 16th i believe. if anyone is interested in going hit up my email and i'll send you directions and times. the park is right in the middle of baltimore. i saw some good graff too. but anyways i took all of last week off because mentally i was getting burned out. i rode today in the poring rain on dirt roads and just got fuckin muddy and wet it felt so good. It hasn't rained in VA for a good month or so. the rain is needed. Only 3 more weeks of my first semester to be over of college and the cyclocross nationals. don't know which is more important to study for. later
  19. i love mountains going down them scare me too much... im a puss cyclocross yeah some on please send me some competition. I HAVE NONE. yesterday in my race i did a 5:15 first lap. gained so much of a lead on everyone that my second lap was 6 minutes and the next three i just had to keep a steady pace. 2nd place finished ove a minute and a half behind. And then in my second race of the day i road most of the race in 3rd place i had the second place guy in my site I fuckin crashed on a set of barriers and dropped my chain loosing a good 20 secounds. but see the thing is im pissed i fuckin gave up i never give up. i usually fight till the end and my damn bike was shifting like shit. i just got so pissed. and i was thinking to myself what if this situation occurs at nationals what am i going to do give up, fuck no. I guess that why you race/practice before the big races. now i know what i can't do. And i was riding a brand new Redline Conquest frame shit rules it's a lot lighter then the fuji i had . well enough of my rambling i lost sleep last night thinking about it. nationals are only 3 weeks away there in Baltimore so if you live near there you should come out and watch the race its a really good spectator sport. and you can see my kill in the junior race.
  20. tearz im sponsered tufo tires and they ahve them in yellow they have really cool clincher tubulors(sp) it's like a tubulor you can use in a clincher rim i got cyclocross tires from them yesterday so i havn't had a chance to ride them. but they look and feel nice.
  21. sorry im just trilled about cyclocross http://www.iplayoutside.com/images/Events/2001/10/4653/pic-0054.jpg'> http://www.iplayoutside.com/images/Events/2001/10/4653/pic-0035.jpg'> http://www.iplayoutside.com/images/Events/2001/10/4653/pic-0062.jpg'> That's me in reston va.. i killed it i won the junior race and then did the B race afterwards and got 10th out of 50 riders. then last weekend i won juniors and got 3rd in the B race. sorry to brag but look for me at nationals im going to place well
  22. yeah i ran into a trashcan yesterday and my handle bar and finger got caught in it. and fliped me over, cut my finger up and everyone say and was laughing at me. i would of laughed too if i saw someone do that
  23. joker "Has anyone tried a rig with those Mavic remote shifters?" i met a guy at a timetrail who used the Mavic remote shifters they help a lot in timetrail because you don't have to move your hand to shift so you gain those valuable seconds. he said good things about them but if im not mistaken they might be alittle heavier then regular shifters. and he said every so often they will screw up but nothing serious. i know when they fist came out they were opperated by cables and cables are a damn mess. the new ones are remote so they're a little easier to deal with. i don't know if i like the whole idea of them. i kinda like to feel my gears shifting not leting some computer do it. but that's just me
  24. the dura ace is a sure thing. they are the best and i have not had a single problem with them. campi (sp) are good to but they cost too much and my dad has them and hates them. they are alway breaking but they do fix them for free but you shit out of luck if you don't have another lever. with hubs i like american classic (im not saying that just because they sponser me) but they are really light and have worked fine for me. first cyclocross race next weekend in northern VA.
