  7. and here's another article on a related topic: September 12, 2001, 11:23 AM OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (AFP) - The Palestinian leadership of Nablus on Wednesday denied that citizens of the West Bank town had celebrated the huge attack on the United States a day earlier. The Nablus governorate said in a statement the Palestinians were demonstrating against an incursion by Israeli forces into the autonomous Palestinian town of Jenin. "The Nablus governorate completely condemns the most terrible operation" against New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington, it said, expressing its condolences to victims and their relatives. "We would like to clarify that people in the city of Nablus on Tuesday evening were demonstrating against the Israeli incursion into the city of Jenin and chanting 'God is great' to express their solidarity with their brothers," it said. It called reports that the rallies were a "celebration of what had happened in the USA ... a complete defamation." Retired schoolteacher Mustafa Ahlan said: "I don't like the Americans, but I don't think bringing down planes full of civilians is going to help." © 2001 AFP
  8. This one comes from a poster at www.indymedia.org (a good independent media news source, for those of you interested). I'm not sure about the truthfulness of this, but hopefully we will be finding out soon for sure. Something to think about... CNN USING 1991 FOOTAGE of celebrating Palistinians to manipulate you by Marcio 9:10am Thu Sep 13 '01 address: State University of Campinas - Brazil All around the world we are subjected to 3 or 4 huge news distributors, and one of them - as you well know - is CNN. Very well, I guess all of you have been seeing (just as I've been) images from this company. I'd like to add some ideas from here, down south. There's an important point in the power of press, specifically the power of CNN. All around the world we are subjected to 3 or 4 huge news distributors, and one of them - as you well know - is CNN. Very well, I guess all of you have been seeing (just as I've been) images from this company. In particular, one set of images called my attencion: the Palestinians celebrating the bombing, out on the streets, eating some cake and making funny faces for the camera. Well, THOSE IMAGES WERE SHOT BACK IN 1991!!! Those are images of Palestinians celebrating the invasion of Kuwait! It's simply unacceptable that a super-power of cumminications as CNN uses images which do not correspond to the reality in talking about so serious an issue. A teacher of mine, here in Brazil, has videotapes recorded in 1991, with the very same images; he's been sending emails to CNN, Globo (the major TV network in Brazil) and newspapers, denouncing what I myself classify as a crime against the public opinion. If anyone of you has access to this kind of files, serch for it. In the meanwhile, I'll try to 'put my hands' on a copy of this tape. But now, think for a moment about the impact of such images. Your people is hurt, emotionally fragile, and this kind broadcast have very high possibility of causing waves of anger and rage against Palestinians. It's simply irresponsible to show images such as those. Finally, I'd like to say that we all regret and condemn all that has happened in the last days; but Nikos has a point here. I really don't want to be misunderstood here, but the truth is that US government had shown no respect for other countries in the last decades. In the 60s and 70s they had halped lots of military coups throughout the world (including Brazil in 64). Later, with Reagan and Bush Father, the Washington Consensus have been demolishing the bases of our economies, making us more and more dependant (and, many of us, prehocupied with this situation). Your current president quickly made things worse: Kioto Protocol, Star Wars, Colombia Plan, the exchange of rain forest for pieces of external debt, tha abandonment of the position of third party in negotiations between IRA and England, and between Palestinians and Israel. All those mistakes in US external politics made your country more hatred than before, and, of course, more vulnerable. Listen, I'm NOT justifying the terrorist actions that took place in your country; but it seems to me that, if your leaders had come along another path of thoughts and actions, you wouldn't be suffering what you are now. Best regards, and the hope that everything is resolved for the best of all of us Márcio A. V. 9. Here's some news on CNN from a year and a half ago... -----Original Message----- FAIR-L Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting Media analysis, critiques and news reports ACTION ALERT: WHY WERE GOVERNMENT PROPAGANDA EXPERTS WORKING ON NEWS AT CNN? March 27, 2000 Reports in the Dutch newspaper Trouw (2/21/00, 2/25/00) and France's Intelligence Newsletter (2/17/00) have revealed that several officers from the US Army's 4th Psychological Operations (PSYOPS) Group at Ft. Bragg worked in the news division at CNN's Atlanta headquarters last year, starting in the final days of the Kosovo War. In the U.S. media, so far only Alexander Cockburn, columnist for The Nation and co-editor of the newsletter CounterPunch, has picked up on the story. Cockburn's column on the subject is available at http://www.counterpunch.org The story is disturbing. In the 1980s, officers from the 4th Army PSYOPS group staffed the National Security Council's Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD), a shadowy government propaganda agency that planted stories in the U.S. media supporting the Reagan Administration's Central America policies. A senior US official described OPD as a "vast psychological warfare operation of the kind the military conducts to influence a population in enemy territory." (Miami Herald, 7/19/87) An investigation by the congressional General Accounting Office found that OPD had engaged in "prohibited, covert propaganda activities," and the office was soon shut down as a result of the Iran-Contra investigations. But the 4th PSYOPS group still operates. CNN has always maintained a close relationship with the Pentagon. Getting access to top military officials is a necessity for a network that stakes its reputation on being first on the ground during wars and other military operations. What makes the CNN story especially troubling is the fact that the network allowed the Army's covert propagandists to work in its headquarters, where they learned the ins and outs of CNN's operations. Even if the PSYOPS officers working in the newsroom did not influence news reporting, did the network allow the military to conduct an intelligence-gathering mission against CNN itself? For instance, one PSYOPS officer worked in CNN's satellite division. According to Intelligence Newsletter, rear admiral Thomas Steffens, a psychological warfare expert in the Special Operations Command, recently told a PSYOPS conference that the military needed to find ways to "gain control" over commercial news satellites to help bring down an "informational cone of silence" over regions where special operations were taking place. An unofficial strategy paper published by the U.S. Naval War College in 1996 and written by an Army officer ("Military Operations in the CNN World: Using the Media as a Force Multiplier") urged military commanders to find ways to "leverage the vast resources of the fourth estate" for the purposes of "communicating the [mission's] objective and endstate, boosting friendly morale, executing more effective psychological operations, playing a major role in deception of the enemy, and enhancing intelligence collection." ACTION: Please write to CNN and ask why the network allowed government propaganda specialists to work in their news division. As always, please remember that letters are taken more seriously if they maintain a professional tone. Please cc-copies of your correspondence to fair@fair.org. 10. Ok, that made no sense! We're advertising ourselves for people to SEE, it doesn't involve any market relation (well unless you're doing legals and getting paid and whatnot but I don't dig that shit anyway)! We're breaking laws but once again they're PROPERTY LAWS! If we were "capitalists" the laws we'd be breaking would be laws on hiring illegal immigrants and paying them 2 bucks an hour and making them do our graffiti for us!
  11. When I say it's an attack on capitalism I mean the actual ACT OF GRAFFITI is an attack on capitalism. The bullshit competition attitude that often comes along with it isn't. I'm not saying that every writer must be a super-conscious anti-capitalist, but I can't help but laugh at the fucks going on about how patriotic they are and the BULLSHIT "love it or leave it" attitude they have, when if they REALLY love this country and what it stands for, they should just go join the mililtary or start a fucking business or something!!! Do you honestly think that the state and the pigs LIKE graffiti?! ?! ?! That makes no sense. Saying that graffiti is an act in support of capitalism is a fucking joke unless you have some dumb super-competitive attitude, "rival crews" can still be fuckin friends. These people sound as fucking stupid as Rush Limbaugh or Newt Ginrich, it's a fucking joke!
  12. you kids are whack! It's all about rockin' the old school pumas...haven't been able to find myself any though! http://www.12ozprophet.com/ubb//frown.gif'>
  13. Own property? THere is a difference between personal and private property. Personal = your toothbrush or whatever while private = control of access to the means of production. Wow, I'm really spittin' the marxist termonoligy here...next thing ya know i'll be talkin bout dialectical materialism....
  14. robbin lil ole ladies and murding peeps isn't "stickin' it to the man" as anyone with half a fuckin brain could figure out! All it is is playing into "the man's" hands. Wow...that sorta rhyme....i rhyme all the time...whoa! i'm a poet and i don't even know it! geez! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!
  15. right on! About to post something exactly like you just posted but you beat me too it, right on. If you fucks feel like being REALLY patriotic then how about stopping undermining existing private property laws (laws intended to keep the ruling class STAYING the ruling class) and go buy some gap clothes?! Or be a cop.
  16. also, it is documented that the United States just wanted a way to test it's nuclear bomb during the war. Fuck, even saying that we DID need to drop the bomb, do you seriously think that we needed to drop 2 of the suckers?
  17. WRITE ON! i'm feelin you. The United States doesn't rely on purely military occupations! It's not efficient for capitalism! While WE do not kill thousands of people on a day to day basis, we are responsible for COUNTLESS dictators and death squads killing thousands of people, just because it serves our interests. And don't forget the fucking IMF/world bank and the WTO who all partake in fucking over 3rd world nations and extracting the cheapest labor possible. The result is millions in poverty. I'm peruvian on my mom's side and ever since "free trade" started opening up some time ago the country has been going to shit, with over 50 percent of the people living in fucking poverty. Don't act like the USA ONLY has control over it's own borders. We fuck over Mexico with NAFTA, and then we shoot the folks who try to cross the border. Capitalism is nearly completely globalized.
  18. Osama bin laden WAS trained by the CIA, it is well-documented. He was trained by the CIA back in the day when Russian was occupying Afghanistan and we were trying to halt the spread of communism so we armed a bunch of afghanistan folks to combat russia. Well, now that russia is gone and WE are basically occupying afghanistan, they are targeting us. It's well-documented that many terrorists are trained by the United States.
  19. Are you sure that they told the airplane passengers they were going to die anyway? That wouldn't make any sense. Even if they had guns it wouldn't make any sense, cuz if you were gonna die anyway it wouldn't matter if they had guns or not.
  20. hey that's a fuckin good book. Daniel quinn is a stupid fuck though....i mean he has some good ideas and shit but he seems to think that all of his ideas are completely original and he seems ultra-egotistical. Still, I liked that book quite a bit. Anarchist John Zerzan writes about similiar issues but in essay-form (about the roots of technology, industrialism, work, etc etc etc).

    Propaganda

http://carmen.artsci.washington.edu/propag...ideo/index.html Terrorism: This stands for anything the State does not approve of, regardless of whether terror or killing is inflicted. So, when a hacker closes down an e-commerce web site, (s)he's engaging in "cyberterrorism". Note: Nothing the State does is ever considered terrorism by the media, even when terror, killing, rape, or torture occur. Terrorist: Anybody practicing terrorism (see above), so long as not on the payroll of the US government or one of their allies. The State cannot commit terrorism, because it writes the laws and gives itself the latitude to do whatever the hell the leaders want. Only everyday people can commit terrorism. http://www.radio4all.org/anarchy/buzz.html [This message has been edited by Angrysamoan (edited 09-12-2001).]

    Propaganda

"I will never apologize for the United States of America -- I don't care what the facts are." --George Bush (senior), commenting on the shooting down of an Iranian airliner by the U.S. warship Vincennes, killing 290 passengers. Quoted in Newsweek, August 15, 1989 [This message has been edited by Angrysamoan (edited 09-12-2001).]
  23. [Well, here you fucks can see how close you sound to nazis. Rudolf Diels arrived at the Reichstag soon after it had been set on fire on 27th February 1933.] "Shortly after my arrival in the burning Reichstag, the National Socialist elite had arrived. On a balcony jutting out of the chamber, Hitler and his trusty followers were assembled. As I entered, Goering came towards me. His voice was heavy with the emotion of the dramatic moment: "This is the beginning of the Communist Revolt, they will start their attack now! Not a moment must be lost." Goering could not continue. Hitler turned to the assembled company. Now I saw that his face was purple with agitation and with the heat. He shouted uncontrollably, as I had never seen him do before, as if he was going to burst: "There will be no mercy now. Anyone who stands in our way will be cut down. The German people will not tolerate leniency. Every communist official will be shot where he is found. Everybody in league with the Communists must be arrested. There will also no longer be leniency for social democrats."
  24. it's fuckin saddening to see such utter right-wing BULLSHIT posted by peeps on graffiti messageboards. I guess i had illusions about graff kids NOT being in favor of the fuckin pigs and capitalist bullshit but I guess I was wrong. I wish you fucks would just join the KKK, at least then you wouldn't be taken seriously.
  25. Cannibal Corpse or Cattle Decapitation would be tight. Or maybe some Dr. Doom too. I wanna start a gore-grind band ala Cannibal Corpse called Senilicide and have a song called Eat the Elderly and it can be replayed over and over at the funeral...hehe
