  9. the first Fuzz book had editing? maybe i've been huffing too much "cabona".
  10. "sidebusting" and "spotjocking" are newjack terms for people who can't seem to figure out who paints with who, and for writers who think they can actually assume some level of credibility by who they paint with. if you've done this for more than a few years, you know that each is a ridiculous way to weigh style and skill. the fact is, if there's room on a car then there's room on a car. if you don't get gone over, consider it respect. period. you want the whole thing? do an end-to-end or larger. it's some bullshit to presume that every writer who paints freights has the choice of dozens of boxcars in an open and easy field. when you get one boxcar to paint, then you have to make the decision to paint or not to paint on the left or right panel of a car that someone else painted on the opposite panel. that's when the idea of "sidebusting" really falls to shit. i agree that if your piece is really tight up against someone else's, or rubbing it, that's not cool, but the rest is just whining.
  11. good call on the cleanup. hate to say it, but Bigot probably needs to send Biter a rentcheck for some of them styles. and do i need to say that neither of those names would have been acceptable whatsoever not that long ago?? nevermind me.... dope post, warts n' all.
  12. ok, this is getting absurd about the contents of reefers. perhaps it was easier to say that reefers only carried potatoes, onions, and apples when the fleets were all UPFE/BNFE/etc. there was definitely frozen (prepared) food being transported back before the newer refrigeration systems, but let's put that aside for the time being. with the new units on the ARMN fleets and the BNSF icicle/hycube fleets, you have to think about a massive increase in both efficiency and flexibility. not only are the new systems able to shut themselves off and on, saving the FIVE HUNDRED GALLONS on fuel that each car can carry, but they can be used for regular refrigeration (the traditional onions or potatoes) or deep freeze (yes, like pizzas). besides, someone already said that they knew of reefers in their area to carry frozen pizzas. to say that reefers ONLY carry X is ridiculous. i know of reefer customers that only got frozen seafood, and have seen ice formed on the door-edges-- in the summertime no less. these cars can handle all kinds of products and the frozen ones are even more durable- which is exactly what works on rails. i also know of Bird's Eye plants that get reefer traffic, and that's gonna be bagged vegetables for commercial/retail distribution. on the other hand, i doubt very much that you'll see meat in reefers unless it's frozen... it's way too perishable and sensitive. and of course no one is shipping ice in reefers, unless someone forgot the recipe.
  13. my guess is it was the nazi redneck hoboes who were stinking up the place. fair call, no?
  14. crow's in good company buddy-- god don't like me either.
  15. nice to see you around, Hound.. i dig the whiskey bottles, great find. they are definitely super collectible, but c'mon guys, not to drink. firstly, liquor doesn't age properly in bottles (certainly not when they're exposed to all kinds of variables like light, heat, etc. over 80 years)- it ages in wooden casks. secondly, do you really think Pennsylvania rye whiskey from the 1920s is going to be incredibly good? we're not talking about properly aged bourbon or single malt scotch. nevertheless, prohibition-era sealed bottles are a HELL of a find and well worth researching--- why are they dated 1924 if prohibition started in 1920? is this date reliable? were they made specifically NOT to be sold? etc., etc.
  16. sorry, none of that paint was racked. all proudly dug up on the road. did i just shoot myself in the foot?

  18. oh my, the curiosity. let's do this methodically: - thanks man, it is appreciated. - i don't know about the forklift. i always figured it was kinda like how you see two dragonflies mating and they're attached? something like that i guess. - the daver was on a CHTT or a UP/SP flat if memory serves. - oh yeah. that's the real orange color that the CNW was, no digi trickery there. - happy new year right back 'atcha. -jw
  19. how is this thread still alive?? mods must be away around the holidays
  20. glad you noticed.... someone tell Bem that i got that flick for him. no one has noticed the Ghost tag yet. haha... Iz freights aren't that rare, but an appearance by Ghost on the freights is. and for the record, ain't no one stealing tomatoes. freight theft ain't my thing and it ain't cool. but that don't mean i won't pose for the picture. damn i'm buzzed.
