  4. he made himself unpopular in 914, but that was after he'd been bombing a lot in Manhattan.
  5. i remember when that ^ was running. 684 was pretty dope for a few years.
  6. loving these threads! keep on traveling. nice finds with the UPFEs, can't believe how rare they are now.... Tike and Jeer!
  7. This is not restored, but an original and the first of the series, shot from 1982. These cars were a joint venture btw D&H and NYDOT (the round T logo), using the tourism slogan of NY State. These cars have been scrapped, some reused in PA, and been all over the place, from Mexico to who knows where. They're classics, but most of them have disappeared. Amazing post btw.
  8. love that the same guy who called writers "pussys" writes "ditch the bitch let's ride"
  9. There's an easy way to tell, you know, if you can't read the paint job. Solid Golds are shorter because they don't have the room for the reefer compartment. An old Solid Cold (much rarer and less likely to be used as a storage car) would have some evidence on one end of having a serviceable reefer and sliding door to access it. I vote Solid Gold. Still a rockin car, and one that has seen its numbers drop heavily due to the scrapping torch.
  10. did Rustofills just hijack the post? fuck that guy AND his tilty hand! i heard he offers blowjobs to writers he likes!
  11. north coast!! surf the lake, foools!!

  13. speaking of MPC, does anyone have any Mite MPC trains? i want to say there was one in an old video graff with Fate..... would love to see more.
  14. bump that can of Krylon.... hard to tell what it is or if the top is faded. Jade? Teal? Emerald? good work
  15. oh no, the tide is turning.... popular support on the wane!! time to change teams.... hahahahah.
  16. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff Yeah, i thought about those (especially Adobe) being feasible, but those are more brown than orange and on top of that, they only came out around '80 (they were the New 80's Designer's Colors). Seen's piece would have to have been done after those came out. Does anyone know the date of that piece?
  17. Re: cracking paint??? don't paint reefers much, eh? condensation is a bitch....... great post.
  18. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff thanks bem. yeah, resident paintologist..... except that i forgot Rusto's Clean Metal Primer (aka Zinc Chromate Primer). it's not as orange as that is, but it could possibly be that. that color sorta matches the old American Accents Autumn Gold.
  19. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff actually looks like Burnt Orange Krylon... which isn't very thick usually. it's too dull for Orange Rusto, not bright enough as Screaming Orange Wet Paint, Red Devil didn't make that color, not that it can't be a different brand. but unless that photo's colors are off, that's the closest color match i can estimate. lots of smaller companies made orange, but it was often a brighter color. color-matching to old trains can be really tough however. like that darker blue in the cloud that matches the MTA stripe perfectly...
  20. ....put a rope around your neck and jerk it.
  21. sure looks like Shadow/Cut Chemist tour setup, but doesn't look like them in front of it.....
  22. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff ven... much respect to you and all (i still got that great IGT with your letter in it), but i think you're wrong about the freight scene... there's a lot of great people doing a lot of work that stretches the boundaries. but at the same time, i believe fr8s really have to be dealt with different than walls. and there's a lot to be said for something that is readable and tight in a classic style for a train that might pass thru at 50 mph or someone might see rolling by a highway. that aspect of freights is one of the major things that's different that subways that people need to take into account... also, not all freight spots are as chill as all that. there's been periods of time when people did all kinds of inventive, different styles on freights, so much so that there's was a response against unreadable "spaghetti" pieces that's caused a trend towards straighter letters.. we're on that end of the cycle right now.... in addition, what you see a lot with freights is a lot of kids who come from spots that don't have a graff tradition... they don't learn, don't see skills from others, but they come to freights and pick it up as they go along.... i mean, NY is a hell of a spoiler (or was) as a scene to come out of, with so many influences out there. with the freights, some kids who are part of it didn't have that, but they drew ideas from somewhere else, and then learned to chase numbers, just to do as much as they can. it's different from how a lot of us from graff-historic areas came up and it ends up with different outcomes. that variety is a good thing in the end, but confusing at times. hell, i look at it like this... you do your thing for a while, and work at it and style evolves. if you keep pushing yourself, then once you develop a style, it keeps evolving if you keep at it. and there's definitely kids who got style out there. oh yeah, and blame Harry Belafonte and Hollywood for Beat Street!! if it wasn't for the music, that movie would be crap!
