I've been binge-watching Grand Designs. The older I get the more I want to buy property and build my forever home. This show, and it's spin-offs, has been inspiring... and educational. Even though the episodes are filmed in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, it's still interesting to see what is most important to people in a home, how long they think construction will take (compared to how long it really takes), and true costs - hint: it's always way more than expected. Some homes are over-the-top huge and too modern for my tastes, but there's plenty of interesting design ideas to be gleaned from most episodes. If you're at all interested in home building from the ground up, it's an interesting show. I'm also watching episodes of The House that 100k Built for the same reasons.

@misteraven @Dirty_habiT - can you add a background that makes it feel like I live in an isolated A-frame cabin on the lake in the middle of nowhere? Maybe some subtle bird chirping sounds? And every once in a while a doe and her fawns walks by, stop and stare at me enjoying the surrounding solitude on my large patio overlooking the lake, and then continue on to graze. That would be awesome, thanks.

Just started watching the Long Way Up series and I'm about three episodes in. Those Rivian trucks/SUVs looks pretty cool, and the Harley Davidson electric bikes they use look pretty cool as well, but the show definitely illustrates electric vehicles limitations. Though to be fair... they are in the souther tip of South America at the moment so I imagine it had to be a challenge.

I've gone through two bottles of HAB Sauce in the last couple months, and right now this Pasilla Morita one is my current favorite. Smokey, slightly sweet, a little bit of heat but not burn your mouth hot, So far it's been good on everything. Plus, he's a Graffiti writer hiring other writers to design his labels. Win-win.

Punctures: I've already wrote about my praise for tubeless wheels/tires in this thread but I'll reiterate - if you can afford it, go with tubeless wheels and tires. About three years ago I switched my CX/Gravel/Winter Training bike over to tubeless wheels/tires and I haven't had a puncture, since. Three years. Gravel, single track, lava rock, and all the muck/glass/sharp shit in the roads, too. There's definitely cuts and bits in my tires but the sealant immediately sealed the punctures. So quickly, I never even knew it happened. I've gone through several real tires and one front tire only due to prolonged wear. There's even plugs you can buy for larger cuts that the sealant can't close, but that's fairly rare.On the weekly Sunday group ride I attend, the only time we've had to stop for flats in the last five years is due to punctures on regular tires/tubes. So yeah... I highly praise the tubeless set-up. If there is a local racing scene then there's probably a group chat you can join, and those always have a For Sale section where you can look for used parts for cheap (and usually haggle for a lower price), or you can post that you're looking for used Paul's cantis. There's possibly a once or twice a year Bike Swap event, too. They have them where I live and lots of folks set up shop with stuff they're trying to sell for cheap. And there's always Craigslist.

I kind of agree with you, but I also kinda think Roger would include Shepard Fairy whether he put up money to sponsor the show, or not (for the record, I've no idea if he did). And I only say that because much like Banksy he's the darling of the "Street Art" world, and everyone knows his work... even soccer moms and old folks. To not include him would be a large miss. I think Roger would include him solely because it gets serious collectors to the show, gets admirers of his work to the show who have no connection to Street Art or Graffiti, gets stencil/Street Art artists to the show, and gets the handful of Graffiti writers who appreciate his work to the show. It's ticket sales for Roger, and at the end of the day that's his job. Not including Shepard in these types of exhibitions would be similar to doing a show on street bombing and not include JA or Adek. To quote Min One - "That's never forgive action".

This was the view from my driveway last Tuesday, around 3pm. Felt like I was living on Mars. This is the view this morning from my upstairs window... Opening the front door the air smells like you're sitting next to a campfire. It's thick. For the last week the air hasn't moved... at all. Other than hummingbirds, I've not seen or heard any birds which is really weird for where I live. Supposed to rain later today but we really need some wind, too.

I've heard the same about Austin and Portland. Restaurants look the same, small local businesses look the same, same kinds of people walking about, bike friendly, all that kind of stuff. But I've also been told I would like it because it's where Lance Armstrong is from there... which is when I walk away from the conversation.

It's unfortunate, really. Downtown Portland used to be a beautiful, thriving city, but thanks to poor management by local government on absolutely everything it has become a derelict city that will take years to bring back. Many businesses have closed permanently or have chose to relocate outside the city due to the overwhelming homeless and unchecked crime. There's garbage everywhere, human waste, broken car windows... it feels like NYC in the 70s minus the Graffiti and gangs. City officials have advised local police "hands off" when it comes to the homeless and so some of them have become emboldened to do whatever they want. And stuff like fires for warmth, cooking, or no reason at all are commonplace. There's a Twitter feed called PDX Alerts that is telling of the just some of the crap that happens in the city. When you read through it and see the amount of deliberate fires being set it's pretty overwhelming.

LOTS of fires are purposely started every day/night in Portland. It’s a shit show over here.

If you're just looking to make the bike lighter for the sake of a lighter bike - lighter components will lighten up the bike a bit, but not a lot. I mean, you're looking at grams per component. That could add up to a pound or two if you change out everything... maybe even three pounds, but you'd have to switch out all the components, and your wheels. All of that can get quite expensive, really quickly. If you're just looking to make the bike lighter for the sake of getting up hills easier/quicker - the cheapest way is to lose body weight. That cost you nothing, literally.

Was expecting this to be ridiculously silly, based on the commercials from a handful of years ago, but I've been pleasantly surprised.

The conversation has certainly moved on, but... I haven't talked to Susan for about two years. I worked for her/AC while she was in Portland so we saw each other at least once a week, and would often meet up for dinner and a drink, but after she moved communication was sparse. That said, it sounded like the move was definitely a good one. Yes, Susan's contribution to worldwide Graffiti communication and education is unparalleled. Her commitment to helping writers make connections, participate in historical events, and share images from writers around the world... on an online platform that ANYONE can access, regardless of browser, makes her kind of the "mother" of Graffiti preservation. She is a kind soul who would do anything for anyone. And real, really real, real fucking smart.
