  1. ill just say they all suck just to make sure I've got it covered.
  2. what if someone was making money off graffiti but they just painted a couple walls in someones basement. even if they were bad ass, theres a lot more to graffiti than the final product. same goes for tattooing.
  3. i agree, its lame that anil didn't have tattoos, which i imagine is where all the hate really comes from. its not really about the dumb tattoos he did, its about the idea of someone taking from tattooing without giving back. but again, IMO thats a bit of an over simplification. tattooed or not, he was working at a level waaaay above the vast majority of tattooers. that in itself has some merit. certainly when you fast forward to today and you see all these chinese supply companies, ebay machine makers, 100 scratcher shops per city... just cause they have tattoos, are they 'giving' anything more back? are they any more deserving of respect? tattooing without having tattoos is definitely lame but personally I'm finding that judging anything on such simple terms tends to leave a lot out. i'd be much more inclined to judge him on that god awful logo and the fact that he just looks fucking creepy.
  4. the former has been getting tattooed for a long time? the latter was tattooing before the former was born, if we're discussing irrelevant 'facts' i'd think that one kind of trumps. also, those tattoos from anil were mostly done in the 90s when everyone was getting chromed out spark plugs and big eyed swallows. 'douchey' was pretty much par for the course. ;) im not concerned with the 'ethics' or lifespan of a certain style of tattooing, I'm talking about the hypocrisy of the herd mentality which claims one death is inherently better than the other. it's easy to say 'fuck anil gupta and his corny ass mini tattoos. that shit is irresponsible and will look like shit in 5 years'. you could say that in any crowd and no one will disagree, never mind the fact that gupta is actually a really fucking good tattooer, people don't even know that, they just repeat things. replace the names though, and people will freak out and make excuses. they're all eventually blobs, who cares. hypocrisy in any form bothers me because it perpetuates ignorance. when you condemn and defend based on nepotism/status/insecurity it gives falsities an air of legitimacy they do not deserve, which pushes understanding further from the middle where it tends to do the most good. I'm not 'arguing' with you, so don't take it personally, just using the opportunity to discuss ideas.
  5. wow, i did not realize he had such a bitching logo.
  6. im not really taking a side either way, just being honest about the hypocrisy that exists in tattooing. theres just been such a resurgence of the idea that if something isn't 3/4's black, it sucks and it won't 'hold up'. people see work by BHR or similar folks and they're stoked on how dark things are. and yes, it looks cool now, but to a lot of people hyper realistic color stuff looks 'cool' now. in 10 years they'll probably both look pretty beat, just on opposite ends of the spectrum. why is one better than the other? because dudes who do super realistic shit are usually eye-brow pierced douche bags, where as dudes who do super dark traditional stuff are ye-olde brooklyn douche bags? both thinks the other is totally out of touch. both proclaim to be the truth. i'm not taking a side, just laughing at the extremes. few people will slam grillo because his things won't hold, but they love to slam aneil gupta. they're basically doing the same tattoos, but one is more respected for some reason. such is life.
  7. i mean... i guess cap proved 'bold will hold'. im not sure what it will hold, but something is there. i did a tattoo recently. it was a big hit on instagram. got more 'likes' than anything I've ever put on there. personally, i thought it was kind of crap. never the less amusing, because i know in 20 years it will be an indecipherable black blob. people love that shit though. tattooing is such a mindless genre. for idiots, by idiots. fuck us all.
  8. I've never really understood peoples outrage about helmets. no one is trying to get seatbelt laws recalled. i get that its personal freedom, but gimme a break.
  9. on top of doing shitty tattoos, I'm being forced to look at them, which i find even more objectional than their existence. if he wants to suck please contain his sucking to his own little corner of the world. k thnx.
  10. katie sellergren will be doing a guest spot at kings ave in a couple weeks. if you don't get script from her you are absolutely fucking up.
  11. i don't know shit about this, id say check HDforums.net or something similar. those old dudes know everything. however id also say anytime you've got a bunch of metal in your oil you've got something bad going on.
  12. ha. totally. when i was in LA driving down to SD i passed the sign for knots berry farm and laughed to myself on and off for a solid 10 minutes. i just can't fucking handle anyone who dresses like they're living in a different era. i mean, i can handle it, it doesn't effect me, but i can't really take them seriously. shit is fucking corny. if i dressed like i was living in the future, no one would respect that, why am i supposed to think its cool to be rock a billy? fuck that shit.
  13. it was only 3 or 4 minutes. and it was such a fucking train wreck of faggotry, i couldn't stop.
  14. weird, some kid was in the shop today with a tattoo by him. i liked that guy a lot more before i looked at his site and realized he was another boardwalk emperor. so fucking sick of that shit. i accidentally watched a video about cris cleen the other day. christ almighty, the pompousness almost gave my computer gay aids.
  15. hows that new school baby bottle looking these days, homie?
  16. thats awesome. is he still tattooing full time, or do you gotta use magic to get something from him? i drove past it a couple times last week when i was out there but was always in a rush to get someplace so i didn't stop. i always regret not stopping there when I'm in town, yet i never make the time. im also shit at going in and just chatting with fools i don't know too, so.... whatever.
  17. its super prevalent in dudes. skinny, short hair, scruffy shitty facial hair, vacant eyes, slouchy walk. usually wearing some disgusting denim shorts and a jersey of some short. fools all look the same no matter where you see em.

social media is everywhere all the time. people live their entire lives on it. they post everything no matter how inconsequential. then a video like this kony thing comes along, so people share it the same way they share pics of dogs on a surfboard. its how things are shared these days. its just 'life'. yet some of y'all want to make it sound like doing so is seen as some grand gesture by people. no, its just the way we communicate now in 2012. 10 years ago it would have been a link on live journal or friendster. some of y'all are so blinded by your fear of who-knows-what that you literally can't just accept that someone can believe something is wrong without devoting their whole life to it. of course if they do devote their whole life to it (like the people behind this film) you call them hipster faggots. hipster, by definition, is someone who hops onto whatever is cool at the moment. devoting 10 years to traveling around the world trying to help people is not really a hipster activity. sitting around complaining about what other people are doing is some hipster shit. only 'hipsters' i see in this thread are those who are doing nothing but hating on other people for showing any amount of interest. this whole thing, regardless of its success, is a social experiment. it might be dumb that someone share it on fb and think that makes a difference, but within 2 days just about everyone that you know who uses the internet knows who this guy is. they succeeded in bringing awareness. will that get cony arrested? who knows, but they did exactly what they set out to do, make him a household name. what did you do that matters?

Re: kony 2012 OH, YOU CAN READ? THAT'S FABULOUS. (insert gene wilder here) YOU MUST OWN SO MANY BOOKS both sides of the situation? its war crimes. kind of a one sided deal. i hate 'hipster faggots' too, but its gotten to the point where the term has broadened so much that it can apply to damn near everyone. what would you prefer he looked like? is there a subculture or style he could resembled that wouldn't induce scorn? my point is that as a society it's gotten to this fucked up point where when faced with any serious situation, the first thing we do is look for a way to make a joke out of it or to belittle the messenger, somehow lessening our desire to care it. I'm not just talking about this situation, it applies to everything. we're so fucking apathetic that we'd rather make a joke than care about anything. OH, YOU NIGGERS WANT TO SIT AT THE FRONT OF THE BUS TOO? IM SURE YOU'LL BE ABLE TO SEE ALL THE WONDERFUL CHICKEN ESTABLISHMENTS. im not personally attacking anyone. I'm talking about our society as a whole as it applies to anything else days. 'caring' about things is now uncool. thats not a good look.
