  1. I tried to fuck with that malazan but I just couldn't get there. I gave up either 2nd or 3rd book. Maybe i'll get into it again. It was so fractured from the beginning in terms of how many characters there are to follow it might be hard for @Dark_Knight to start with. I feel like the cost of admission for this one is high and might turn him off. Mistborn series from Brandon Sanderson might be worth checking, its only 3 or 4 books so it will resolve without having to wait and its shorter so its not nearly the commitment. Not my favorite but fun enough of a read. The Way Of Kings is probably my favorite series to start but they just finished writing book 4 of 10 so its going to be a while before you get closure but most of the books wrap up decently enough. I never finished wheel of time and I'm thinking of starting it over. I need something new to listen to while working and i cant seem to commit to anything.
  2. @One Man BannedSeems like a pass or at best on the back burner.
  3. Just out. about to dig in.
  4. whelp. Georgia was suppose to post by midnight...nothing yet there. I honestly expected it to go trump but from looking at the % of Atlanta area that has not posted yet, its got a chance to go Biden. Looks like Biden only needs Nevada to put him to the limit but theres no way trump doesnt sue and fight this until middle of next year. All I'm seeing is shit about Trump and Biden but no ones mentioning Kanye. Hows he doing?
  5. We did steaks in an iron skillet in the oven the other day. came out pretty good if you get tired of waiting.
  6. there wasn't really anything that was said that would change your mind over who you will vote for. The time limit they imposed this time did force them to stick to subjects a little better.
  7. I think best quote was trump saying he was "the least racist person in the room" then went on about how dark the room was and that he couldn't see who was in there. I feel like Biden is promising everyone that will listen whatever they want. He's green but going to keep on fracking. everyone should have a $15 min wage. he's going to fix healthcare. etc which is fairly normal for presidents I guess. I'm not sure how he expects to do that in only 4 years. especially since he will have to spend those 4 years propping up Harris to take the throne once it's done.
  8. Final Round going now.
  9. The way this year is, I think they should lock all 4 of them in a room together with covid and last one standing gets the job.
  10. One more thing on the free College tip. I grew up in Georgia and we had the Hope grant - it was paid for by the lottery- which when I graduated high school, as long as you kept a B average and went to a public college, college was pretty much free you add pale grant and some people even made money off going to school. Tech school was covered too. That said, I know people who didn't go even though they qualified and several that went for bullshit degrees that never panned out after school. Which brings me to why should Americans pay for the younger generation to be debt free from bad decisions they made or pay for future ones? Many states already have programs in place like Hope but you have to go to pubic colleges and tech schools to receive them. So say people go to school and don't finish their degree or they flunk out, what if they do like my sister in law and go for 7 years for a 4 year degree because she never made up her mind and then still ends up in a job not using it? Perhaps another idea that could be floated out there is to teach kids in school what debt really is and how it can effect you long term so you will know if its worth going for that degree you have your eyes set on.
  11. Theres a lot to catch up on here but heres my take from the piece I watched with Harris and Pence. Neither of them really answered any of the questions and didn't stick to the agreed upon time. Pence seemed to be worse about it and after this year I'd like to see them employee something that cut the mic after 2 min or they got a shot clock up or something along those lines.I'd also to hear the moderator call them out on not answering the question as they move on to the next question. Most of the time when Harris opened her mouth she would prop up Biden rather than putting her own views or say that wouldn't happen under Joe's watch. At one point Pence came after her saying she was going to end fracking. She declared that they had no intention on stopping fracking ever. There was a point where she was struggling and kinda shouted out something to the effect of "we're gonna legalize weed". This is my take on the college debt based on nothing but my opinion. I think they are just trying to buy votes here. Its a mutated version of something Bernie floated out there that got traction with young folks. I don't think these two have any intention on full-filling it. They are going to spend the majority of their time reversing all the shit Trump reversed from Obama. To tackle something this large it would most likely mean a two term presidency. Joe doesn't have two terms. which means that they are also going to have to put a lot of time and effort into propping Harris up as someone who can stand her own ground. Reporters at the end of the debate said that it was pretty much a tie which they declared a win for Biden since according to their polls was still way ahead. I don't think anyone really vote with the VP in mind but this is the one election where that should be top of mind for everyone since the age of these candidates. thats actually one of my largest concerns with Biden. Since there are so many people voting against Trump rather than for Biden, it seems like almost anyone would have had an easy win. why would the democrats not pick someone stronger.
  12. I think i'm old. I have no clue who this person is.
  13. I had written up a pretty lengthy response to this but I found myself getting lost on what points I was trying to make so I'm starting over. My opinions going into the debate were I was planning of voting Biden. Like pretty much everyone else I know, we're planning on voting Biden because the the general "Fuck Trump" opinion most folks I'm around have had. I will openly admit I do not know much on politics. This seems to be another one of those things no one wants to admit much like managing money/wealth. People tend to get overwhelming passionate about it and feel like they know all the secrets but it's such an overwhelmingly large system with so many cogs and whistles its impossible to navigate, Every time I've gotten interested in it, it has left me left with frustration and apathetic. I tuned into the debate for about 20 minutes. I think we can all agree it was a bit of a shit show. Both candidates behaved pretty poorly. The highlights that I have seen have mostly centered around Biden looking into the camera lens and Trump not rejecting far right radicals. I saw the section where Trump didn't shun the white supremacists and Biden claim the police supported him but then he couldn't name a single agency that was on his side. My take away was that Biden looked weak and frail and incapable. I'm not saying Trump looked amazing but he appeared more capable of the job. How can the democrats take an election that some would argue should be a slam dunk and put in someone even older. Trump and Biden are both in their 70s. most of us know people that age. would you trust them if you sent them to the store to bring back the correct product. Most are a bit sketchy even driving at that age. How in the hell did the democrats just push someone in thats in their 50s and sit back and coast to victory?!? Going in, i was 100% going with Biden and now I'm very much on a three way split from Biden, Trump, Third Party. Sadly the social media and news sites have turned into one of the worst places to try to find information. Theres no middle ground and the culture of both republicans and democrats is shit. people are so polarized right now if you ask something that is counter to their popular belief you either get called a racist or a socialist. If you are voting for Trump they think that you obviously are racist and want to return to the the times where you could own a slave. If you are voting for Biden then you clearly think this should be Soviet Russia and good luck in the bread line. Over the last few years I've found news articles from major publications that state one fact in their headline but when you read the article, it has little to support the claim and sometimes nothing at all. This has lead people to go searching for answers in areas that may have never considered. I'd like to propose a challenge. Take the candidate you are not going to vote for. Research the reasons your are not voting for them and see if they are even true or find reasons that you would vote for them and are those things true. In theory, both should have some redeeming qualities. you may want to focus on the VPs for this since as old and frail as these guys are looking, the VP will probably be carrying the load.
  14. A chance to duck being recorded on camera at every turn seems more about freedom to me than this idea of being forced to wear one. The amount of AI/facial recognition stuff going on with police right now is scary. Even more so if you are black with natural hair or if you have facial hair.
  15. 5 ton ac unit. hows that for old.
  16. I havent dug through this yet but figured i'd share with this thread. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OlXNyNUGwLCKUQ4alHf2ScKrZlNVoBi5uGPuM6wKmo8/mobilebasic?urp=gmail_link
  17. it's a slow one. I've started it a few times and honestly cant remember if i finished it or not. Theres a movie series that was done sometime in the last few years. its wasn't very well received but I enjoyed it - if you don't feel like reading it, maybe check that out. Theres a lot of hate around that book partially because to current political climate but I took no issue with it.
