i can see your point...i guess for me it boils down to the ethics of the situation. if youre going to send husbands, wives, mothers and fathers off to die for, in this case, absolutely no justifiable reason, i think there should be some accountability. a lot of these widows are losing half of their income which is a huge blow. factor in children and it gets that much more difficult. id much rather see my taxes go towards taking care of those who have been hung out to dry by our government than see them use my money to tap our phones and buy more weapons.

i cant believe ive been sleeping on this thread. some pictures of thanksgiving and christmas dinner.
my lady and i had our own little thanksgiving this year. this was the first turkey either of us had roasted. we took a 5 gallon bucket, water, salt, peppercorns, various fresh and dried herbs and some garlic and brined the turkey for about 12 hours. then stuffed the cavity with butter, garlic and fresh herbs and roasted for around 2 1/2 hours. if you ever make a turkey i would recommend using a brine. it really helped retain the moisture and make for an awesome meal.
we made some pancetta and wild mushroom stuffing, some green beans and basic garlic mashed potatoes. note the absence of gravy...when you brine a turkey using 4 lbs of salt it really helps the moisture of the bird. it also makes the gravy you make with the pan drippings so fucking salty you cant eat more than a few drops. note for next year.
this is a smaller version of almost the same meal on christmas. i was trying to get some duck breast but all they had a whole foods was pre sliced and frozen (what the fuck??) so i went with cornish game hen. we love greenbeans and the mashed potatoes from t-day came out so well we made them again. we roasted the game hen and made a brandied cherry reduction to serve with it. the sauce came out well but the best part was flambeing the brandy. it scared the shit out of my girlfriend.
we are getting together with friends tonight for italian food which i love. mussles, pizza, fresh pasta and lots of wine. lots and lots of wine.

this just rubbed me the wrong way i guess. as things stand its debatable whether widows are continuing to receive checks, and even in the best cases it can take over a year to start seeing that money. were compensation swift and guaranteed this could be a valid argument but from i understand this isnt the case.

just got this in the mail. white stripes "conquest" 7 inches. each has a different rendition of "conquest" and then an exclusive b-side. black, red and white vinyl. i fucking love these things.
the staple. NM first pressing. i dont think it carries much monetary value but whatever...this record pretty much changed my life.
petitioning forever 2xLP. a great remastered set of two records that will always be a reference point for everything awesome.
red sparrows 2xlp. this is an amazing project/band.
2xlp..."long hair and tights". live recordings of boris and doomriders. the artwork is a tribute to judas priests "screaming for vengeance" which ups the crucialness considerably.
and finally, some great 7 inches from great, long defunct virginia bands.

the last fight i tried to get in was with two douchebags who were acting up at a house show. i got one shot off and went for the other guy before it was broken up. general consensus was that they should have gotten their asses beaten and tossed out on the road but i still felt like an asshole afterwards.
im pretty much down with never having to fight anyone again in my life.

so ive decided im going to go check out the porn shop down the street, go to the toy boutique and check that out, then see if this video store actually rents games and movies or if its just two racks of new releases and then a room of gay porn. for various reasons, my bets are on the latter but we will see.
