  1. No. Not for any real reason but myself. I got caught for the last time about 10 years ago and I eased up a bit, and about a year or 2 after that I told myself I'm either going to do this shit 100% or I'm going to get my life together, I got my life together. Another dude I was crew mates with moved from another state to out here around the same time I was making this decision, and that dude was a needy motherfucker. Like, I was juggling 2 jobs and graffiti and I would go out and hit shit when I had a moment but not enough to wait for someone else type shit, and this dude would see something I did without him and whine about me doing graffiti without him. Straight up like a crazy girlfriend this dude left a note on my door where I lived with room mates saying I owed him money and for anyone to call him. I started reflecting on all the people I've met through graffiti and although there's been a couple alright people, and 2 guys that I miss and was super tight with, everyone else fucking sucked. A friend and I had started a crew before this too, and one cat that we were in the process of putting down started hanging out with a known snitch so I called up my boy and told him this other cat needs to get cut off. My boy didn't follow through so I dropped the crew. Later they did cut that kid out but still, it should have been immediate. I still see that crew up sometimes, not as much as I would like though. I tell my wife "that's my legacy" in some dumb ass gangster voice and she rolls her eyes and tells me to shut the fuck up. I haven't caught an actual tag in forever. I draw straight letters sometimes. I do shower glass tags pretty often. The only thing I really miss about it is looking down at busy streets from rooftops. Or getting to spots themselves, kinda like puzzle solving in some instances. Out of the little bit of documentation I did do during that part of my life, I wish I had written down how I got into/out of/ etc places rather than taking a picture of the actual throw up or whatever. *edit: when I say met through graffiti I don't consider anyone I met through here to be through graffiti

  5. @Fist 666You're in Ashveille?? That's awesome. I will totally come visit. You moved? @misteravenYo you're in Montana? Fuck yeah. I am thinking of doing a Wyoming/Montana tour this Spring/Summer. I have a pending mural in a very popular destination in Wyoming, but I also have an outstanding warrant for the whole state. So that sucks. I'll msg you when I'm more clear on details. @fat ralphyYes Burning Man was pretty awesome this year. I ended up going to Cody, Wyoming to help some friends build an art car. We converted a school bus into a huge saddle. Then drove around giving out ice cold water and gatorade and salty snacks across the playa. The only *mobile* watering hole on playa - that actually served water, ha!\ This is the last mural I did at an super duper fancy 15 acre artist residency in Palo Alto, CA. Deep in the woods.

  6. Thanks for all the well wishes!! I am in the Panhandle. Thinking New Orleans next week. Anyone in Florida? My laptop fucking bricked so I had to get a new one. Traded a couple ounces of herb I grew this year for a new fancy one... Currently camping with a friend near Tallahassee at a pretty sweet campground. She has an inflatable raft and we're on the lake so we got fishing and diddle around the woods. One of my dogs brought back a chicken yesterday... today there was guy wandering around with a rifle near our camp, so that was a little off-putting. Dogs barked and he turned around. Might have been the chickenman lookin for what took his bird. I should post up some pictures. Hope all ye'all are well! New Orleans, anybody??

  9. I threw up about a dozen tags last year and havent painted in many years. Besides watching trains at RR crossings and time spent here or on ig my only interaction with graff life is old can collecting; which to me is as much/more about design and typography and general collecting satisfaction than it is graffiti. I agree with hua on judging reckless behavior of adults with real responsibilities. My favorite writers are absolutely doing this, and I appreciate their sacrifices, but I'm not about to throw down and help them with a patreon/gofundme when they fuck up (saw this recently for rusto) because they are adults and knew the risks...

  10. YEah, that sums it up. I'm glad I'm more than a one trick pony that has varied experiences and accomplishments. As well as having things that are highly valued that also value me the same way. And fuck it, I own a place with a huge workshop with 12 foot walls, an outddor firepit with a wall for painting (right next to my outdoor hottub :)) and I have a rack with over 400 cans in it to paint whenever I want. That shit is waaaaaay more satisfying at my age than working hard to impress other writers that I likely don't know and then always wondering when the knock on the door will come with a warrant to search!

  14. You're straw manning my disdain of taxes, government counter-productivity, into being pro corporate. I don't have the same knee jerk reaction to hating corporations that I did when I was a kid. I like that my neighbors and I have jobs, and I'm mature enough to see the basic economic realities that will improve/lower my standard of living. I'm fairly indifferent to corporations now, as long as they're not fraudulent, or violating the rights of individuals it's not my concern. What is my concern is she's been on the job just a couple of months, and already cost my district 25,000 jobs. Then bold face lying about it claiming she/they saved us 3B, when she/they cost us 27B. If I wanted to tell Amazon to go fuck itself (in a way that actually matters to them), I could stop ordering shit. Can't do that with a government, either follow their commands or eventually you'll end up room temperature, or locked up in a box. I just see the government as the bigger problem. Her ideology is clear as day, she conveniently has the word "socialist" in her title so there's no confusion. Unless you're a fan of what's going on in Venezuela now, you have to see there's a problem here with government strangling it's best economic assets and costing the public 25,000 jobs. No, I never said that. In fact, there was a 100% guarantee of 25,000 jobs moving here for the deal to take effect, and a guarantee of additional 27 billion in taxes revenue after the break. When I said "no guarantee" (go back and read) I was referring to the unlikely possibility that amazon brought 25,000 out of towner's here to fill all those positions, in an effort to point out that (even if that happened) it would still be a huge net gain anyway for the residents here. This is the statement that I have the most trouble understanding. I'll have to unpack this later, but the basic idea here is Socialists tend to always drive their economies into the ground with this line of thinking. What's "good enough" for one person a hundred miles away, who isn't paying over $3000 a month in rent, may not be good enough for the people actually facing the situation. Who decideds what's "good enough" for the next man? If so I think the amount of money the government already steals is good enough. If someone seizes your money via threat of violence, wasted the majority of it "buying votes", and gave a small percentage to some well intentioned, yet ineffective public service, you'd probably still dislike that theft. If that concept doesn't bother you, send me some money, and I'll donate an unknown portion of it into any ineffective charity program of your choosing. Gentrification is a term linked to reverse racism/classism, where people are discouraged from moving into certain areas because of either their race, or higher economic productivity. Improving the living standard, and quality of undesirable neighborhoods is what I want. It's hard to find an upside to being surrounded by crime. The rest of the world doesn't have to stop growing economically to suit the needs of a small group. Even if we did this, the conditions of the poor would deteriorate to an even worse state if we sacrificed enough productive economic activity to facilitate a 0 rise in their cost of living. This is the socialist illusion. The difference between being poor under communism/socialism, and poor under capitalism is life and death. Communist/Socialist revolutions have time and time again lead to famine, and starvation. Again, not a single Socialist intended to fuck Venezuela's economy, but it's the inevitable outcome every time. The government, even under the best intentions cannot magically create more of anything, they can only redistribute what others have created. Things like health care services won't increase because of government intervention, (without enslaving all medical workers and forcing longer hours), it takes economic forces to increase supply. So it stands that what they stolen from one place, to put into the other always carries a net loss, than i does net gain economically. This is a perfect example of that in place. Zero gain, a 27B loss, and still somehow claiming a victory to the cheers of the economically illiterate.
