The other ink recipe threads are dying, and nobody wants to read through 10 pages to find what they want. Therefore I decided to start a new one. This thread is intended for those who don't know much about ink to start learning. I'm giving it my best shot to answer all of your questions. Now, lets take a primer in Ink 101. INK VS. PAINT There's two main things you can use as a base for your recipe: inks/dyes, or bucket paint. Ink and bucket paint do not mix with each other. If you're into getting custom colors that no one else has, get yourself some small containers of bucket paint. Two recommended brands are Rustoleum and One-Shot. While most people hav…

K i know there have been lots of threds on here about making your own markers but what about modifying markers. I got the Jumbo Pilot permanant marker http://www.pilotpen.com/PilotPen/images/sc6600.gif'> and its cool and all but is there any ways you have modified it. I could experiment but i would probably fuk it up and that would be the end of it. I was thinkin it would be cool to put in paint some thinner and a mixing ball but i dont know if that would work well. i thought of getting the gold and silver paints out of the smaller pilot markers and putting them both in the jumbo but the small ones need to be pushed down for the paint to come out and this can…

i realise theres a possiblity of this getting closed but i searched and found nothing like this so maybe if this stayed open it would save countless threads being opened like in the past. okay. im about to put in a order from a company that carries a fair number of caps. my problem is i dont know much about european caps whatsoever. i dug through threads for 2 hours care of the search option to no avail. basically im hoping that this thread can be an area where we can talk about caps that we have never heard of. if i had them id take them out and use them to find out what the differences are but i dont have the money to order all of them to experiment with. so he…

graff writers must see some of the wierdest shit when theyre bombing... everyones got stories of gnarly shit theyve seen while creepin late night. as andre nickatina put it : "when youre up all night, you see things you shouldnt have saw... beacause the night gets raw." lets hear some grimey shit or some stories... one of the scariest things thats happened to me was getting chased at 3am by a car full of nortenos.

For all you writers that have just started and need to ask questions and want some tips....here you go. General Tips: - always keep your mouth shut - never tell people you dont trust that you write graffiti - dont 'tag up' your backpacks/shoes/hats and other things people will see - dont write on your school - keep on a low profile - avoid any contact with police ::::If police arrest you for painting: - never say anything, dont say that you did it or did not do it...just keep your mouth shut - tell them you will not speak until you have a lawyer present - never rat out your buddies - dont fall for their phony tricks "oh we will let you go…

Figured if the Sabotaz thread can live, why not start a thread for my new favorite paint, Ironlak... http://www.ironlak.com/ As most of us know, Ironlak is now available in the US. I made a pretty decent size order of some to try it out. This paint is mad thick, and flows flawless. This paint is not only great for piecing and real detailed work, but also works great for bombing. So from all the Aussies, or anyone for that matter, that has used this stuff, lets hear your thoughts? Flicks too. I’m not trying to spam or anything. I just think that dedicated writers, or any writers, would enjoy this paint, and should try it out.

I have looked around on here and i haven't found anywhere where advice is given on what you can do if you get stopped by the police...so i'm gonna offer some... first off lets understand this hypethetical situation: you are out bombing, you have a typical messenger bag with paint in it: you are riding on a bike: you are seen by a police officer and he decides to stop you... the first thing he will ask is to look in your bag... unless he has actually observed you painting, he does not have the right to search your bag... he will say things like what do you have to hide?... respond by saying it is your right to privacy... this can save you in most cases from them actu…

This is an important topic for beginners, since it addresses your health and how to protect yourself from the chemicals used in paint, markers, and other graffiti tools. The most important thing is inhalation. Paint, as well as ink, contains chemicals that can cause nerve damage, cancer, brain damage, kidney problems, and tons of other shitty things. The most straightforward way to protect yourself from fumes is to wear a respirator. A respirator is basically a gas mask that covers just your mouth and nose, with a head strap so you can keep you hands free. Respirators are sold pretty much anywhere that sells paint, or has an extensive paint department. Places li…

I tag in a minority filled neigborhood that you can say it's kind of ghetto. You can see heaps of people in white tees and wife beaters at mid-night, all grouped together. I've read the Beginning Bible and Spray safe! threads but could find anything if bring a weapon is a good idea. I'm always cautious, I get so nervous that I literally sweat a pound every time I go out bombing with my friends. My friend has a bayonet, but he never brings it! He's afraid that it would make it worse if the popos caught him. My dad has a blackhawk .44 magum but I don't want to mess with it, besides it's heavy. Anyways, should I bring like a butterfly knife with me or something? Do you br…

you know what really "grinds my gears" its rich kids who write. they dont have to go to school, dont have to have a job, dont have to worry about getting caught, cuz they have mommy and daddy to pay for everything. They just go from city to city and get apartments/houses they dont pay for and have thier parents credit card to feed thier coke habbit. fuck blue bloods I mean fuck, id kill every city every night if i didnt have any obligations i.e school, work, etc and i knew my parents could bail me out and hire me an expensive lawyer and fuck people who go to art school too, it has nothing to do with talent, it has everything to do with if you can pay the t…

There have been people asking here and there about wheatpasting, so I'll give the 411. I nabbed this recipe from some political (Kind of)website. Mix 3 parts flower, one part cornstarch, boiling that in water, (at proportios of 2 parts starch to 3 parts water.), and cooking it down to a paste. Hurry to stick up posters with it everywhere with it before it dries. You can keep your wheatpaste warm in winter by keeping it in a drink cooler. Try different variations of it until you find your personal favorite. visit the page at www.crimethinc.com/library/youcan.html They also have instructions on how to make a mop and a new york style mop also. I'm going to try…

it seemed that there were some people who enjoyed my stencil flix in paper chase so if anyone was and any questions about stenciling this should get you on your way.. peace INTRODUCTION Stenciling is the poor persons’ printmaking. It is the easiest and cheapest way to print the same image over and over on different surfaces and in different places. To start off, the three most important things for making a stencil are an idea, something to cut with, and something to cut the stencil out of. I cant’ help with the idea part, but you shouldn’t feel like you have to be an artist to do this. One of the great things about stencils is that since each print looks the sam…

With the advent of easily accessible technology, I personally think it's only a matter of time before a lot of crew comes out with their own DVD. I'd like to see a MSK/AWR dvd myself. I think an east bay A4Y dvd would be dope too. What are your thoughts people?

Has anyone else seen the newly revamped line of AA? I mean first Rusto gives us Army Green and Orange(although I havent found charleston green yet....), but now they seem to be giving Euro Paint a run for its money. You can check the website, They got rid of a couple colors(raspberry, antique blue...), but theyve got a gang of new nice ones, and I'm not refering to green apple or oregano. Espresso, French Lilac, Sweet Pea, and Aqua are all super nice and already on shelves, has anyone else picked up any of the other new ones? anybody? hello?

Seriously guys, I want some honest advice and not some smart assed comments. :hatred: I just broke off a relationship with a guy who reads and posts on 12oz. Our relationship was pretty awesome except he would choose graffiti over me on many occasions. I know this is common and I just wondered if I could get a for-real reason why. Thanks to you who respectfully answer my inquiry! Peace :confused2:

Its something ive been thinking alot about lately. Crews are getting so huge now, it seems everyone has a list of some huge number that their down with.. Its obviously impossible to keep track. I guess im just curious what everyone's crew/crews stand for.. be it just what the letters stand for, or what it actually means to you.

alright, i make a rediculous amount of stickers, like 30 a day, then go put them in crazy ass places. I have put together a little guide on making them for all you newbies to the art, it is really fun. ===================== GETTING STICKERS: UPS- the best spots to get stickers are, of course, the UPS stickers. but not everybody can get those, like people in the UK and in places where UPS stickers are only used by toys. Factory- You can look in your phonebook and find companies that manufacture stickers, even if the factory is hours away, it is worth it. go into their recycling/trash, and you will find THOUSANDS OF SHEETS of "defective" stickers, usually …

i'm not big on fame, or even crushing a city. but to me some of the best spots hardly ever get hit because they arent visable to most people. like sewers, under seats, inside hand dryers, behind bushes. ect i was just wondering your views on visability in graffiti.

ok so i generally try to find spots with a bush or a hedge or something to hide behind when the cars are coming, which has made it possible for me to not get caught because in that line of traffic turns out to be a cop sometimes, so if your doing fills or even hollows does being seen matter? i ask because there are alot of street side spots i wanna do, and i dont always have a lookout...is the stop go method good? or is it better to just go and let cars see you and hope for the best?

Like in the middle of a throw or something 5-0 comes and you leave only to never finish the peice? I heard on here about something like that happening to one person on a freight. Or have you ever found one and finished it for them or ragged on it? I can tell you the one I did was when I was just doing 2 letters from my name I ran out of paint in the middle of the fill. Yet to finish it.
