Figured we could use this space for any music discussion that you deem important for your soul. Recommendations are always cool too. So what are you guys listening to these days? I am currently stuck in the 80s and 90s this week. The up beat fast paced hype has helped me stay in a flow recently. Something about songs from my adolescence that I didn't understand then but liked the song. I find it to be a full circle. Often finding myself wondering why it took me so long to actually listen to what some songs were about. A good example of this for me would be 99 Luftballoons by Nena. Its pretty crazy how different the UK version is from the German original…

A thread for those 12oz users who appreciate extreme music in it's many forms...since I didn't see a thread for this here in the music forum. I'm a bit curious to see who in this community is actually into music that you don't hear in graff videos or sneaker ads. Will be interesting to see some responses.

https://www.rockhall.com Does anyone care about the HOF? Def controversial, but I wonder if some of that is from fans not being as involved in voting. This year's nominees have been announced and voting is open to fans for the next month I believe. Some nominees you may or may not give a shit about: DEVO RATM THE GO-GO'S TINA TURNER FOO FIGHTERS I'm a Howard Stern fan and some of the guys from the show vote for nominees. Howard tears up the HOF any chance he gets and makes some good points. Steve Miller too.

PHASE 2 was apart of the early years of Hip hop in NYC. PHASE has worked on quite a few album covers for many artists from all over the world. He was a man of many talents and will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched. From albums he did designs for or rapped on here are a few examples. Continue with your own research and you will find many more as these are only a few from my personal collection. Hope you are able to discover much more about the talents and how PHASE 2 changed the world with what he did.

Or will the mumble rap and trap roll on? will there be another generation of conscious MC who are maybe 13 or 14 now, during all this social unrest, who will find their voice and use it as an MC in another 5 years or less? will the giant social unrest in 2020 be a catalyst for the return of music, and especially hip hop, that is socially conscious and carries a message?

Ever get a song stuck in your head? today I took note of all the songs that got stuck in my head for no fucking apparent reason other than there was no other music playing. does your head play random ass jukebox selections all day? care to share and get it stuck in someone else’s head?

So what exactly is Simpsonwave? Basically, Simpsonwave constitutes a genre of YouTube videos that collage classic "Simpsons” moments with vaporwave tracks. The clips from “The Simpsons” are often heavily edited, given a codeine purple filter, a static-y VHS feel, and generally arranged with psychedelia in mind. Overlaid on these clips are the classic vaporwave sounds of John Carpenter synths, cheesy muzak saxophones, and skittering drum machines, making the otherwise strange edits feel complete. The mashup of the both is startlingly relaxing. Those early seasons of “The Simpsons” are reeking with ‘90s nostalgia and flashes of surrealism, while vaporwave accesses something…

So I just recently decided to learn teh oontz beats disco dick formula of making music. A couple Volca FM, Bass, Novation Circuit and a couple of other things that aren't in the fold yet: Told an ex of mine one day I was gonna have a band called Haunted Cooter.. She HATED me saying it. I'd howl that shit out. We still she likes this song but will only call it Haunted.

In the last few years I've re-grown increasingly interested in this genre of music. When I was a teenager (early 80s...) I was very much into noise and experimental sounds from projects like NON, Hunting Lodge, and Whitehouse. I was also into Current 93, Nurse with Wound, Death in June, and other Nihilistic folk bands. For me it was the music, not so much the image... and the image is what most folks focused on (Like Goth music, I love it, but I'm not concerned with wanting to look like death or hang out in cemeteries). Projects like NON and Hunting Lodge were definitely uneasy listening, but for some reason I found myself engulfed in the waves of sound. The music became …

Thread idea- songs that have become attached to movie scenes such that hearing the song brings back the scene. Mainly avoiding songs made for the movie. A few that come to mind:

Wondering what you guys thought of the new Kanye album? I happen to really enjoy his music. Yeezus probably being a favorite though I liked 808 and My beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Anyhow, I need more time to listen and process but first reaction is it felt a little rushed (reactive perhaps) and not the usual high polish of the last few. Seemed more like an EP since it was only 7 songs and like 24 minutes long. Then again, I was told he's dropping like 4 albums in a row or something, which might explain it. Anyhow, seems a lot of people are just dismissing him after the MAGA hat thing and racism comments. I actually took the time to watch the entire TMZ i…

I read an article by Harvard Health that music can heal depression. I quote from health.harvard.edu: "Music therapy can calm anxiety, ease pain, and provide a pleasant diversion during chemotherapy or a hospital stay." "Over all, music therapy decreases pain perception, reduces the amount of pain medication needed, helps relieve depression in pain patients, and gives them a sense of better control over their pain. Improving quality of life for people with dementia." If so, just for chatting sake and taking out the dementia part - indulge me (i'm brokenhearted), what song would be your therapy? Mine would be ---
