I am running CS3, and frequently get the following error message: 'Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document' And cannot open certain files. They are Photoshop files, created in Photoshop, and only used in Photoshop, and I am unable to open them - I am losing huge amounts of work and time

...there exists a distinct difference between so called high art and low art...this distinction originally arose during the sixties with the advent of the 'outsider artist'...a term used mostly to define work done by someone that wasn't brought up through the institution of art (...i.e...university study)...this work, while recognized for what it was, was degragrated as basically art that 'didn't count' in the realm of the grand pursuit of Art..this divide has continued and grown to encompass differnt meanings...there are now 'undergound' artists and a whole system of galleries that show their work, while they are kept out of so called 'high art' galleries...the line has …

...i have been acused in the past, both on this forum and in real life, of hating art due to my rather critical view of a lot of things...so i thought i would highlight some artists that i really enjoy seeing...the first is the contemporary italian, Maurizo Cattelan...he has been met with both critical acclaim and dismissal... "him" "la nona ora" "bidibidobidiboo" "untitled" ...link to controversy of this piece... "Frank and Jamie" maurizio cattelan was born in padua in 1960. cattelan did not attend art school but taught himself. he worked as a cook, gardener, nurse and mortuary atten…

OK then. What I mean by 'Concpt writers' are those who deal with a deeper theme, one that unites all their pieces, tag names etc. What comes first, eye candy or brain food ( ;) )? Are these artists highbrow or lowbrow, or just plkain fucking pretentious? Be clear I do not mean so called'Graffiti' writers who use art school training and one watch of wildstyle to appropriate an entire culture and do pieces on canvas to display in galleries (see McKenzie Galleries in St andrews for some truly shocking examples, not that any of you will live anywhere near sta's) I do in fact mean thoses who use grafitti as an expressive tool to convey serious points of view Tell m…

"There's still liquid in the glass Sir, I just wouldn't drink it." Looking at the graph of the president's approval ratings, I realized that I could recreate it on a wall of the gallery. I chose glass jars as they are transparent and allowed me to use the inside as well as the jar itself. The jars are filled up with water relative to his approval rating at that time as well. The clear water represents clear thinking on the part of the American public. The jar representing 9-11 is filled with pure black ink, representing the fear, anger, sadness, depression, any and all emotions felt by the world that day. As the jars go on, one less drop is …

Notice the white border around the paw on the front of the hat? (See Figure A) I think it's stupid and cool at the same time... Here are THREE options I can't decide upon: …

YAH, FIRST UNTITLED THREAD OF 2009 :p Well the amazing render thread exploded, and most of my renders couldn't be called amazing anyway, so I'm starting this for anyone (which AFAIK is me and casek) to post their 3D computer graphics and works in progress, whatever. Random stuff: My little pony shitting a rainbow body material test render: Final scene: Friend needed a picture of broken fishbowls for the flyer background of a closing party at a venue called "The Fishbowl" so this happened:

Haven't been here in a long while. I used to post some things in the Daily Sketch Thread, mostly horses. Anyway, in my hiatus I've been exploring sculpture. This is the first piece I've done from scratch, very loosely based on my sketch below. I ended up casting it in urethane resin & selling out an edition of 19, I'm still dissatisfied with the hair. If anyone's curious as to the molding & casting process, I documented most of the basic stages, as I had some on another forum express interest in the workings Sorry for shit pictures - sketch - I told you that to ask you this - anyone else sculpt or work in 3D?

http://www.polytope.net/hedrondude/polychora.htm I can't tell if this is art or math or both, which means probably both. This guy has been working on finding certain sets of 4D / 5D objects since the 90s with what appears to be the obsession of a total madman (aka great artist / mad scientist, whatever). He has the following to say: Anyway aside from the objects themselves being very cool looking if you enjoy geometric patterning, what's equally impressive is that part where he developed what is basically a human-pronounceable language to describe the features of objects that don't exist as far as anyone can tell, and is apparently known in wh…

At the airport early getting in a few last smokes. Still waiting, no more smokes. Seeing what was going on outside. Not my plane. Transit in Holland. Bored. Kickin back in the smoking lounge. Transit in Kuwait City, staff would not let us get off the plane. Lot's of military on the plane. Left Kuwait City after an hour or so waiting in the plane and headed to Bahrain. Arrived in Bahrain and had about 30 minutes until curfew started. Headed over the border to KSA and saw this. Starving, so stopped for my first meal. Only eat this stuff overseas. Since we were not with any women we had to go to …

Hey everyone, on June 4th I have an appt with my tattoo artist to get my newest piece done & was hoping someone could direct me to some references. Here is a pic of a Philly tat done in as in the city landscape new school style.Looking for stuff like this not tattoo just drawings/art etc. Basically my tattoo is going to be on my right shoulder. It's going to be like the city in the link. A skyline of buildings ( that pic is just a reference ) and I want my artist to add a bridge in there. Above the city will be a night scene such as stars etc and flying from and above the skyline will be a paper airplane then written out above that will be "Dream Big"…

I would like to share with you a book project that me and my co-writer Tobias Hansson have just completed. “Damn Son Where Did You Find This? – A book about US hiphop mixtape cover art” is a celebration of artwork of the modern mixtape. Focusing on five of the biggest designers, of the past 10+ years, the book features around 500 covers and in-depth interviews with KidEight, Miami Kaos, Tansta, Mike Rev and Skrilla. The book also contain an introduction with quotes from people like Trap-A-Holics, Evil Empire, Rob Marksman and Mixtape Wall. The book is limited to only 400 hand-numbered copies and you can see more about it at http://damnsonwheredidyoufindthis…

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a page for a zine about the very broad topic of feminism. The zine will be #2 in a series of 5 or 6 that is being published for The F-Word gallery show at The Andy Warhol Museum. Each installment of the zine will look at some of the artists in the show and a few pittsburgh artists, but will mainly be an expression of what feminism presently is, and how the term is embraced, negated, affrimed, extended, or manipulated by our current culture. Issue #1 was very rushed,(we had two weeks to put it together), and we still have about 400 copies to put together, for the museum requires we have 1000 copies of issue for the …
