Handstyles, also known as hand-lettering or handwriting, refer to a particular style of writing or lettering that is done by hand rather than printed or typed. Handstyles can range from simple and elegant to complex and ornate, and are often used in a variety of applications such as branding, signage, and graphic design. Handstyles can be created using a variety of tools, including pens, markers, brushes, and even spray paint. Some common techniques used in hand-lettering include calligraphy, brush lettering, and block lettering. One of the key elements of handstyles is their ability to convey personality and individuality. Because they are created by hand, each…

Been writing for over a decade off and on. Always liked drawing comics and horror stuff and I think it's infused into my pieces. I feel like I got comfortable enough with the same basic straight letters and only add stylistic effects and goopy stuff to the same basic letter structure. Open to critiques and help or advice. Do other writers feel like they hit a plateau and just stick to what they know? I met an older writer who's been pushing me to try new stuff and I realized getting other artists' perspective helps immensely. New to the forum respect to all. The follwoing picture is the WICKED GARY card collection. This collection has handstyles from 1970 to 1972. Do your research and you'll see that many of these are the founding fathers and mothers of this culture. Sadly some of these writers are no longer with us but will never be forgotten and what they did fo the culture. A young master of style RIFF 170 repping a pretty fly tag for this collection.

Here are a few vintage drawings by RIFF 170. These drawings are from the early 70's to mid 80's. From RIFF's master pieces, characters and tags you can see why he is an early 70's style writing pioneer from NYC.

Blasting through the search results it seems that the old alpha battle threads are dead in the water and most of them were rather time restrictive and single letter threads. This would be dope to bring back possibly with a more centralized thread instead of creating a new one every letter. My thoughts are that we do a letter every 2 weeks which would fill out a year with Z carrying over, keep it to one thread that the title gets updated every other week. Anything goes, paper, digital, paint, sculpture, as long as you created it. Judging - Could do set judges or just have it as a post ya letters type deal. Any interest h…

What good fammos - just dropped this zine of vintage stickers that I had hit by a good 40 of my favorite writers. Nyc legends like Desa Ket Kaws and Cro - New nyc killers like Anso and Dak and even a few non-ny heavyweights like Felon and Pez. I had started collecting vintage stickers this past summer and it soon dawned on me that I should have my fav writers hit them, next thing I know this zine was at the printers. I had been collecting for awhile and grew up writting but was getting bored with the same old 228s and the same old writers getting jocked. Theres a good mix here of legends and slept on dudes who killed it. The stickers themselves ar…

Growing up I never had any full time teachers or influences. So I learned to piece before even being able to do a proper throwie. Now that I'm bombing a bit more, I want to get my handstyles up. Anybody trying to pass on some alphabets? Pics below or message me?

Just wanted to introduce myself.... CADatonic.com and @CADatonic on instagram and twitter. I've been working with graffiti and street artists over the past few years turning their 2D art into 3D physical figures. I've worked with Turtlecaps, Plasmaslug, NYC Blackbooks (pic attached), Freekitiki, Roc514, etc. I hope you'll take a look at what I'm doing and let me know if I'm on the right track. This is some of the most enjoyable work I've done.

Whatsup 12oz! I host monthly graffiti battles on my YouTube channel and although I feel the format is pretty well done, there could definitely be a higher level of competition. Right now the same dude has won it back to back and I need some more people to enter that can help raise the bar. Its a fun battle and I put out a results video/new battle every month. The winner receives a little award as well. Its nothing too fancy but I think its pretty cool. Anyway, I know there are some incredible artists in here and I would love to have some of you get involved in these. I consider myself to be a really fair and honest judge and I've been into graffiti for a good 15…

Fiction is the classification for any narrative work whose creator does not claim responsibility for the work's faithfulness to reality; in other words, a narrative not guaranteed to present only true descriptions, real people, and actual events.

My letter's look fun and sometimes too text book. I want my shit to look raw. Cold as ice, and they look like, a man in a suit and tie just normal. I want that shit tohave swag.

I do my highlight's but it seems like they don't make the letter shine. Like they're just there and don't have any effect besides making my sketches look actually uglier then before. Is there a trick to these? I am starting off using pencil then using pen

Sick of doing basic bubbles and squares/triangles. It seems like sometimes my detail ruins my drawings. How can I make it so it makes it look more complicated and not shittier? (excuse my French) Sorry if I'm posting too much or not enough in one post, just kind of schizo with it

My sketches have terrible 3d effects, except for my O's. The 3d effect looks like, I fat line and not even an angled letter. When it comes to the bridges I can't even make it look good at all. It looks like a checkered board and not even a slab of letter. Anyone have any advice how to make these brighten up a slab?

I try to make my letter's skinny, but they end up looking fat and ugly. I feel like an anorexic writer. I am overweight so maybe my personal appearance respresents my shit on paper? Any help?
