This is pretty interesting, how a non police sector of city run municipality employees view graffiti in the New York City Subway System. TLDR; Conductors+Motormen+Workbums talk about graffiti within their own circle. http://www.subchat.com/readflat.asp?Id=1269610&p=1

Pete Seeger, the man considered to be one of the pioneers of contemporary folk music who inspired legions of activist singer-songwriters, died Monday. He was 94. Seeger's best known songs include "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)" and "If I Had a Hammer (The Hammer Song)." His grandson Kitama Cahill Jackson says that the singer died of natural causes at New York Presbyterian Hospital on Monday evening.

Stretch Wilson called me this afternoon, Wednesday, August 13, 2013, and told me that Fran DeLorenzo, the Hobo Minstrel, died yesterday in the hospital of a brain aneurysm (a burst blood vessel in the brain.) Fran operated the Hobo Grapevine web site for many years, as well as several other online sites from his home in New Hampshire. Basically, if you wanted to know the latest news about tramps, the Grapevine was the place. He had been in declining health for years, and it got worse after his wife passed away several years ago. Fran was an accomplished musician and performer and sold CD's of his songs online. Fran was one of those guys that just keeps on kee…

RIP SIDEDOOR John Francis O'Connor of Phoenix, 90, passed away February 8, 2008. John was perhaps better known as "The Sidedoor Pullman Kid" - a moniker earned by spending most of his life riding in boxcars of freight trains in search of work and adventure. John was possibly the last of the Great Depression-era hoboes alive, who strongly preferred the wanderlust of the open road to a settled and stable lifestyle. John was born in New Haven, CT on June 4th, 1917. He left home in 1930 as a teenager and started riding the rails to find work. Like other hoboes of the time, John did all sorts of temporary jobs - from picking fruit to washing dishes to working for the r…
