*trainspotter* Someone who obsessively collects bits of useless information about trains. The term 'trainspotter' stems from exactly that......he who spots trains. A strange affliction. These are characteristically 30 - 40 year old men who still live with their mothers and quite possibly indulge in dubious sexual practices involving them. Gathering on station platforms in all weathers and wearing old anoraks and bobbly hats, they note the make, model and characteristics of each train that passes.

ok this may seem like a silly quiestion but i felt like asking it. i know youve seen these cars in either pics or in person, im wondering are these cars still being used? i used to see a ton of them back in about 96 or 97 and suddenly they just seemed to fall off. does anyone know the general area they are used in? did the company get bought out and they actually got repainted? also, is this an american company or canadian? im not too far from a bigger orchard type area and i expected that a few of these would pop up every now and then, but yet i havent seen a single one. any info would be appreciated.

Ill cut to the chase I'm looking for a flick of a reefer with lots of stick like characters of people holding up little signposts with letters, spelling out' train painters inc.' or 'train lovers inc.' or something along those lines... (even though its a freight) Someone has to have seen it in the forum somewhere. Please dig it up!!! Thanks in advance Sorry to have created a new thread for this i'll delete it tomorrow. -European metal lover.

I ran across a cool VHS tape at my local library, a 72 minute film by two filmakers named Michael Uys and Lexy Lovell called "Riding the Rails." They sugar coated it a little, but it's really a super film. It's mostly interviews with old 78-year-old guys and one really neat little old lady named Peggy who were all hobo kids back in the '30s in the Great Depression. That Peggy is something else--I wish I had known her when she was a kid. It's a good movie, go check it out at your local library.

ive noticed quite a few people who i paint with use digitals as well as I. BE CAREFULL. my advice: your memory stick should only be inside your camera at the time of flicking your work. While painting, I keep my memory stick within reach so it can be ditched upon any "aproach". Also while entering and exiting (most vonerable times) mine is cuped in my hand and will be droped at the first sight of a problem. chances are you will probly be cuffed anyway if you got all the obvious supplies with you....but having a camera containing around 200 picturess of your wet train peices isnt gonna help you in the least. just a heads up!

Let's use this thread to post pics of 90's freights only. After all, it was in my opinion, the best time for freights. Ill start it off with some from my personal collection. I have 1000's more taken from the West Coast I will add if this thread takes off. -dagmar onasis iii esq.
