In the late 80's I took a class trip to the Bronx Zoo; it was the first time I remember seeing serious graffiti. As we drove through the city I remember seeing all the vibrant colors, seemingly on every possible surface. The most painted areas seemed to be anywhere there were train tracks. RIP to the victims of the Bronx train derailment today. I'm far more saddened by that than the loss of a lame actor known for a corny auto movie series. PS- Happy Thanksgiving.

I tried google and couldn't find any details.. no doors, so is it a garbage type car? Sorry if this is stupid, just wondering.. theyre real cool old cars, and I've never seen them around my area (minnesota) Thanks

It's been around for awhile starting in Germany, back in the early 1970's, and becoming more popular across the world in the 21st century. Garden Roads are a cool hobby, and it's a bit safer than hopping freights, although sometimes one wants a little extra excitement and danger in their lives. Anyway, there is a dedicated YouTube page to Garden Railroads in Minnesota, run by the Minnesota Garden Railway Society. You can see cool videos of these garden trains there: http://www.youtube.com/user/MGRSClub For those that are curious, Garden Railroads, or "G-Scale" is about twice the size of the familiar O-gauge Lionel model trains that many had as kids growing u…

Hey first post here. I am a train photographer and graphic designer, figure y'all might dig this. Here's a grip of train photography that's heavy on the edits and filters cuz that's my thing. I was thinking about posting images on here too, and I might if people want them, but for now here's a mix of images on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgDlolvCtPE I guess you can't embed videos here? Maybe that's a good thing. Anyway, check it if you're bored or whatever. Enjoy.

I doubt that the people I most want to reach with this thread care much about history or the way events converge to create change. Graffiti itself to many who do it is a reckless, rampaging "fuck you" to anyone watching or listening, so the idea of using foresight and intelligence to make life easier for yourself or others is a foreign one. Despite this, I'm going to throw my thoughts out there for people to chew on. This isn't a sermon, just something to think about. Make no mistake, these are the good old days of freight graffiti, the years everyone in the game will remember most fondly: for their chillness, the names, the styles, the feeling of being part of the next…
