A very sad day for international football.

Zinedine Zidane has decided to give up on his international career.

I know a handfull of people on this board will be quite sad to hear this. Man was/is the best player the world had scene in some time.

Here are a few flicks :

Zizou started his pro carreer in Cannes, before joining Bordeaux

At 24, he was spotted by Turin's Juventus :

He now plays, and intends to end his carrer with Real Madrid :
As i recall but i'm probably wrong, Zidane's transfer from Juve to Real remains the transfer record for the amount Real had to spend.

To all the football heads, let's see some Zidane flicks!

A few flicks of his international career

Euro 96: Zidane's first international competition. France reached semis.

1998: World Cup Final. France beats Brazil 3-0. Zidane scores two.

France wins the Euro, in 2000. Zidane killed shit, once again.

France-Algeria. A match that meant a lot to Zizou, who has Algerian origins. France wins 4-1.

World Cup 2002 : France Denmark. France loses 2-0, and France is knocked out in the first round.

France-Ukraine. 1-0 for France : last goal and last match in blue for Zizou at the Stade de France.

Euro 2004. France- England. France win 2-1, thanks to two goals by Zizou in extra time.

Euro 2004 Quarter finals. France lose 1-0 to Greece, and this is Zidane's very last match for France.[/center]

although ill agree with the part about him being one of the best players, I along with the majority of the English population (apart from b0b who dislikes footy  ) will not be sad to see him go.

OR at least i hope the rest of the Brits feel the same way..

Meh.....I place the blame for THAT game solely on England's ineptitude, not on Zidane for scoring. Zidane is amazing. The best player of the last 10 years, and the only French player that isn't a total cunt....

You guys are going to suck without him.
  13. Worst football news of the year, Zidane is fuckin dope.
However, i give it to him, theres nothing worst than staying when you had to leave and he leaves in full glory.

nah i don't at all. he is probably the player i loved to watch most in recent international competitions, and i'm gutted that i never made the effort to see him play in the flesh.

first Scholes, now Zizou. where are the international players for ahem, low-centre-of-gravity type gentlemen such as myself to emulate in the park now? :D

There'll be new stars to come, of course.

The new France coach has released his list of 21 for the match against Bosnia. 7 of the players have never played for France EVER BEFORE. I shudder. But i guess it had to be done at some point.

Keep your eyes peeled for Rio Antonio Mavuba, 20 yrs old, elected best player of the U21 international competition which took place last year (Euro ? WC ? i can't remember).
