Tiny quick sketch.

Unfinished drawing, but I kinda like it the way it is. The neck area bothers me though.

From an older robot thread:

Thanks for the comments, guys. And to answer the first questions, no, I haven't ever painted aerosol robots on walls, although I might someday. And actually, the paintings I make are more abstract than my drawings, but it might be fun to sit down one day and paint one of these things.

I didn't finish the second drawing cause it just wasn't coming together for me, but I really liked the hand. The neck bothers me not so much for being thick or whatever, but it just looks like the head isn't connected to it... like the pipes come straight down but the head looks straight forward. Whatever, I still like it, but I guess I just lost interest in finishing up. It happens a lot to me, which results n a LOT of unfinished drawings.

And yes, these are a fucking blast to draw. I hadn't really done anything like this until this year. I learned that making "techy" details is actually really easy and almost therapeutic, and teaches you a lot about balance and composition. It's basically drawing a lot of random little rectangles, and knowing which ones to fill in to make it contrasty and complex-looking. I also learned a lot from reading a Star Wars production design book, and looking at how the artists built up these tiny details to produce scale and complexity. Robots rule... they might be cheesy, but they're so fun to draw and so gratifying to look at afterwards... Oh yeah, if you got drawings, not necessarily of robots, but drawings in general, post em up. As much as I dig them, I kinda get tired of always seeing letter sketches around here. Beer,

I have this one still saved on my computer (sorry the image quality is fucking horrible, my scanner was fucked).

Some Spawn pencils I rocked (yeah I know, Spawn is corny):
