Send a Friend a Slurpee

Beginning Labor Day weekend and running through Sept. 30, 2000, consumers in the United States and Canada can head to participating 7-Eleven stores and purchase their own Slurpee powered by Yahoo!. Minute Maid grape is the official Slurpee flavor for the promotion. The co-branded Slurpee cup highlights Yahoo! Greetings (http://greetings.yahoo.com and http://greetings.yahoo.ca), Yahoo!'s free online greeting card service. Available in 18 countries around the world, Yahoo! Greetings offers one of the widest selections of greeting cards on the Internet and is part of Yahoo!'s comprehensive suite of communications services.

For the month of September, people can also head online to http://greetings.yahoo.com, http://greetings.yahoo.ca and http://postales.espanol.yahoo.com to send a "buy one, get one free" Slurpee drink coupon to a friend. During the four-week promotion, a new specially themed online greeting card will be featured each week. Each online card includes a 7-Eleven coupon with bar code that consumers can print right from their desktop. Coupons may be redeemed for a free 22- ounce Slurpee drink with the purchase of one Slurpee drink at any participating 7-Eleven store in the United States or Canada, excluding Quebec.

"At Yahoo!, we are committed to helping people connect with friends and family in meaningful and convenient ways," said Cindy Bishop, senior brand manager, Yahoo!. "Through this relationship between 7-Eleven and Yahoo! Greetings, people can send an online greeting card to kids and friends going back to school complete with a 'buy one, get one free' Slurpee coupon -- a fun and caring gesture that can be completed within seconds on the Internet."

"With everyone heading back to school and college, this is a great time to get in touch. Parents can send e-Slurpees to their kids at college, friends can get back together over a Slurpee beverage, a summer love can even send a special greeting and a Slurpee, America's favorite frozen drink," said John Ryckevic, category manager at 7-Eleven, Inc. While always a popular destination with teens for drinks and snacks, 7-Eleven officials hope to expand its teen audience through the relationship with Yahoo!, a leading brand among teen users*, and through the recent introduction of a new line of teen fashion items. Win a Chance to Share a Slurpee with a Friend

What could be better than sending a friend a Slurpee? How about sharing a Slurpee beverage with a friend compliments of 7-Eleven and Yahoo! Travel (http://travel.yahoo.com), Yahoo!'s one-stop shop for travel. Through banner advertisements in Yahoo! Chat (http://chat.yahoo.com) and relevant areas of the Yahoo! network, consumers can enter the 7-eleven.com online contest to win a trip anywhere in the continental United States or Canada to share a Slurpee live with someone special. Grand prize includes two United Airlines tickets and $200 spending cash. Other prizes include one year's worth of free Slurpees. (Contest details, rules and regulations are available at www.7-eleven.com/yahoo.)

To promote the Yahoo! campaign, 7-Eleven will display window banners and in-store signage at participating locations in North America, and will run 10 second radio tags throughout September in selected U.S. and U.S. Hispanic markets. 7-Eleven also will sponsor four live online chats with top teen performers and/or bands during September and October on Yahoo! Chat.

"Working together to fully leverage Yahoo! Fusion Marketing programs through sponsorship, product-related, promotional and online advertising components, 7-Eleven and Yahoo! uniquely marry the online and physical world to deepen our connection with consumers," said Murray Gaylord, director, Yahoo! Fusion Marketing.

Yahoo! Fusion Marketing programs provide one-stop shopping for companies seeking to secure a measurable Internet presence and are designed to help connect Yahoo!'s significant global audience with leading offline brands.
