If this thread flies cool ... if not whatever.

It’s so frustrating to see how the US has been acting like we are the center of the world. Between WWII and the end of the cold war, we were. Post that we need to realize we are major players but no longer needed the way we once were. Our ethnocentric attitude is only holding us back from seeing this fact.

We have begun down a path to becoming a Fascist state. No I don’t think that is going too far, take a look at this and think about the nation’s behavior as of late. Epically post 9-11... then let the discussion roll on.

    Fascism
A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
    Oppressive, dictatorial control.

Word History: It is fitting that the name of an authoritarian political movement like Fascism, founded in 1919 by Benito Mussolini, should come from the name of a symbol of authority. The Italian name of the movement, fascismo, is derived from fascio, “bundle, (political) group,” but also refers to the movement's emblem, the fasces, a bundle of rods bound around a projecting axe-head that was carried before an ancient Roman magistrate by an attendant as a symbol of authority and power. The name of Mussolini's group of revolutionaries was soon used for similar nationalistic movements in other countries that sought to gain power through violence and ruthlessness, such as National Socialism.

You need to unlearn this first and foremost...if we were the center of the world so to speak we would not have spent that period of time rabidly fighting self determination by peoples across the globe. We were one of two countries most well armed and wealthy but these are values we our selves assigned to the meaning of importance, not the global and more rational value system of humanitarianism, peace and equality...

If the US were to be blown off the face of the planet, or to crumble
economically, millions upon millions of people would starve to death,
mostly in other countries. That alone is one reason we're the most
important, not wealth or self proclaimed status.

Let me clarify my point -- I don't believe that the US is ABOVE anyone
else, or that by intrinsic worth we are better than any other humans on
the planet. It's just that you can't deny our importance technologically,
agriculturally, and economically, to other countries.
