The area in toledo where they set up was not downtown, but a part of the community known to have pretty taut race relations between african americans and polish americans. The demonstration was extremely intense and lasted a good amount of time. Yes, some of the people there to protest were gang members, but the majority were pissed that the city allowed an organization such as this to demonstrate in specific area of the city in which tensions were already so high. Everyone is at fault for some part of it...but when you travel all that way to take shots at an already stuggling city and the people living in it, you cause the resulting actions. Simple enough. CACashRefund Posted October 16, 2005 Share Posted October 16, 2005 the gang members in the protest are alleged to have been recruited by the organization that was behind the counter demonstration purely for the purpose of porviding some back for the group. neo nazis demonstrating? ok fine, but the police should have been more prepared. counter demonstration? sure thats pretty much a given. local business and cars being vandalized and burned after the neo nazis left? theres not much sense in that. both parties had a part in starting the riot, i dont think the anger is much on the actual riot but the fact that the area was partly destroyed by the people who were suppose to be counter demonstrating the neo nazis. i mean, if they leave, whats the point of destroying the property of the very people your suppose to be representing.
