vinyl junkie Posted January 24, 2004 Share Posted January 24, 2004 a friend of mine set up a show at his college... it's a benefit for several communty service groups that he's involved in... two local hip hop groups that each have a draw of about 400-500 people, and a local hardcore band that has a draw of about 300, and a few more small local bands... 3 months ago, when he first started setting up the show he signed me on to do security... i got 4 more people together (including another 12ozer), who all have experience doing security, and he was getting a few more... about a month later, i get a phone call from the cheif of campus security, asking for the names of everyone i have doing security with me... a week or so later he calls again and asks for everyone's birthdays... a little while later i'm asked to sign a contract, a while later i'm asked to fill out tax forms... this all has me sketched out enough (i hate contracts, i prefer to not deal with taxes whenever possible, etc...) a few days later he tells me he needs even more information about all the security so he can do background checks... normally, i would have told him to fuck off right there, and i woulda bailed on the whole thing... but my friend was relying on me doing security, and without me the whole show would have fallen through... so i find some new people who will pass a background check (i had 2 felony violent offenders and one registered sex offender working with me) and tell the old people that they are out, and won;t be getting the money they were planning on getting... the show is tomorrow... this morning i get a call from my friend saying that "the chief" will not be allowing us to work... on top of that, he is having 11 members of campus security, including himself, work the show, along with 3 officers of the local police, and they will be frisking people and using metal detector wands at the door... the show is not allowed to run as late as it originally was, they are setting a cap on the number of people allowed inside (no more than 500 people... at the door price 500 people won;t even allow enough money to give all the bands their gaurentees... so this guy has fucked me and the people i had working security out of $100 each (i turned down another, better paying job so i could stay on this one) he is making my friend comne out of pocket to pay the bands, and he is making it so the groups that would be benefitting from the show get absolutely no money... now to the point: the chief of security's name is dave mefford... his email is dmefford@ndnu.edu i have his home phone number somewhere, and if i can dig that up i'm gonna post that too... please feel free to sign him up for spam, porn, nambla info, whatever... please harrass the shit out of him...
