Dirty_habiT
Damn you are not kidding. Bush definitely seems to have his eye on the prize. I think it's pretty selfish really, his family is rich as hell already. Maybe I'll actually vote this year... there's alot of people on 12oz, you could say that it's not enough to make a difference, but then again...... *maybe* it is. villain
The scary part is... Do our votes even matter anymore!?! And with republicans controlling all of government now it seems likely that Bush is our elected leader for life. Or death rather.

We voice our opinion and if that is the same as the _________, then they give their vote to elect the president. The ________ very rarely go against the people though. Im drawing a blank. Some one throw me a friggin bone here.

KaBar2
What's going to really make it tough for Bush is that by supporting the Patriot Act, and by encouraging the Homeland Security supporters to try and get Patriot Act II (even worse) up, he is really pissing off the people that made the "razor's edge" difference that threw the last election to the Supreme Court. If the Democrats weren't suicidal on every issue of morality, race, guns, abortion, etc., etc. they would probably OWN the White House. The Republican Party is just smart enough to understand that Joe Six-pack may support the overall aims of the Democrats, but they lose his vote on wedge issues. So the Republicrats hammer home the wedge on a bunch of issues that shouldn't even be a question--like my favorite litmus test, the Second Amendment, and abortion, and things like Homeland Security. The Democrats must live in some alternate universe, where the 80% of the country that is socially conservative will support extremists like Charlers Schumer just to get something much less important to them, like broader healthcare benefits for Medicaid recepients. George H.W. Bush 41 made this mistake. The Democrats put President Clinton into office and re-elected him again because the right wing was SO PISSED at Bush for signing the assault weapons ban. I was livid myself. I was so mad, I threw away my vote on Perot, a total waste of a vote. Bush 41 fucked up BAD. I came close to voting a straight Libertarian ticket, but instead, I voted for Republicans unless there was no Democratic opponent, and then I voted Libertarian. Virtually no Libertartians won. This next election is going to be a real mud bath. I may just piss my vote away and vote Libertarian. I'm sick of the Republicans yanking my dick, and Bush 43 has really mobilized the opposition with the economy and the recession/lost jobs/ NAFTA/ etc. If the Democrats would just stop trying to disarm the nation, and get rid of all the socialists pretending to be Democrats, I think they would do a lot better. Texas is now nearly SOLIDLY Republican. The Democrats are hanging on by their fingernails, due to a massive switch to the Republican Party by conservative Southern Democrats. Just about the only people left in the Democratic Party in Texas are people so liberal that in the '60s, they were probably socialists or even communists. And the Texas Republican Party has a strong minority sector made up of black social conservatives, black anti-abortion activists, conservative Tejanos and conservative Chinese-Americans and anti-communist Vietnamese-Americans. Houston is an international city, and a lot of the immigrants are not liberals on any issue except immigration and race. On everything else, they are very conservative, and the Republicans are bending over backwards to try and accomodate their issues. There are Republican Nigerian immigrants, Republican Chinese-Americans, etc.
