visit to indiana (with photos)

here are some photos i took in indiana while i was visiting my mother. considering she lives in a really small, boring town i took a few trips to the local abandoned spots for some photos. below are photos of an abandoned school and barracks. i don't even know if they're actually barracks exactly, but i'll call them that anyway.

they were both used a lot years and years ago - i'm guessing 35 or so (probably more for the school) because they're both facilities for the local naval special weapons base closeby. i guess there were cutbacks and much of the area is closed down or abandoned.

i took these with a different camera and they turned out better than i thought. some may appear dark to you. i hope not but i work with a weird monitor on the computer i scan images with. hope you enjoy them.

barracks by the entrance. i never noticed the cross til this visit. its almost like somebody just put it up there.

doorway into one of the school rooms. seemed like it was a really nice school back in the day.

just a classroom.

another classroom. obviously not looking too good these days.

a few of the barracks buildings burned down. the one that was completely curned down used to be a good building to take stuff from. it had bags and bags full of old mail. some of the letters were quite interesting.

and on to the next five...

this is what happens when you don't time your flash right. i decided to add this anyway to show how many of the buildings looked inside. this one had more stuff than the average one. with all the doors and closed in spaces it was enough to make anyone nervous.

school lockers. this is similar to an older shot i have on the site, but this is from the other end of the hallway. nothing was found in any of the lockers, unfortunately.

another barracks room. nothing too out of the ordinary.

one of the many overgrown pathways that connect the complex. made me nervous. there is probably interesting stuff back there if you go deep enough. some pathways lead to the lesser visited buildings.

a closer shot of the burned down buildings.

moving on . . .

a shot similar to the 'cross' one but farther away. shows you how run down and seclused the place is. perfect for visiting for long periods of time.

'satan' wall scratching in the school. thankfully, whoever decided to do this knew how to spell properly.

i believe this is an office. it was a smaller room in the school with its own bathroom. nothing else in it though.

another view of the same room.

another set of walkways that connect the buildings.

school shot.

Yeah, thats exactly what I mean. For example, in the last shot, the open lockers on the right make your eye follow all the way to the open door at the end of the hall. The pic would not be as good if different lockers were open.

Anyhow, it just makes things cooler that you don't touch anything.
