As you all know, I'm not a thread starter.
However, after ranting about Vik Muniz in paper chase I decided I would share him with you all. I saw him a few weeks ago on a local public tv station and he blew my mind. After much searching on the internet i finally found him again.
He is a magnificant artist from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The stuff of his that amaze me the most are his pictures of his art.
That is, when you see something like this :

you think, ok, he put some art down with charcoal. Thats actually a piece of work from his "Pictures of Dust" collection. He makes the image by arranging dust on paper and then taking a picture of it.

Even more amazing is his "Sugar Children" collection. He took dark paper and arranged household sugar on it to make portraits. Then he took a picture and of what he created.

Then there is his "Pictures of Chocolate" collection in which he uses basically the same technique. Here is Pollack:

He also has Pictures of Thread, Wire, Soil and Ink, among other things (I enjoy his erotica paintings as well :) )
If you do check him out, though, remember that when you see his wire collection, its not just a drawing. Its a sculpture he made and then took a picture of, like the rest of his stuff. Pretty amazing. I couldn't post more of his stuff b/c his site is mostly in flash.

    thats amazing.

i had read recently (i think on this site) about a woman who made art from her period blood.
    it repulsed me..

this guy however, is really fuckin onto something here..way more creative than found objects, plus more aestethically pleasing, which i am always looking for in artwork..

    nice addition.

    that chocolate thing is ill.
    i like it
    andi wanna eat it.

Wow...that shit's nice as fuck. Has this been done before?

(..sounding ignorant to the art crowd.)
