Guest imported_Tesseract
O.K.here is how this story goes... http://www.greece.gr/CULTURE/images/fix_building.jpg'> Late 1930's The fix brewery factory gets build in the center of athens. It produces beer and soft drinks.Factory closes in 1970something.Its declared an architectural monument but before that athenssubway buys it planning to make a subway station there and exploit the building. 1999 half of the building is demolished in order to keep only the original part(that second half was an extension). What remains is a ruined since its not used from 1972. Twister paints a throw-up in the ruins. On the demolished side viewable by the street. http://www.yourphotos.com/users/2809/twist.jpg'> The piece looks from the street as a silverpiece. But it has only a black outline since that room is actually a metal tank. My father worked at this factory for 3 months in 1969 when he was a student. That tank was used for getting rid of beer that wouldnt make it to production.(that tank was constantly filled with beer! for many many years, woah!) http://www.yourphotos.com/users/2809/ACFAD.jpg'> A couple of months later the building becomes the National Museum of Contemporary Art and a new subway station is opened where the second half was. Athens subway(still owned the building at the time)places billboards on the demolished side. http://www.ametro.gr/main/communication/gallery/images/suntagma-dafni/11.jpg'> And in order to do that destroys half of twisters piece(folds actually) http://www.yourphotos.com/users/2809/ACF1FF4.jpg'> The irony of the thing is that now that twister(with his real name)has a value oficially in the art world(with several gallery shows and a participation to the Venice Bienalle)The museum "owns" one of his works in some way,and hasnt got a clue about that(Funny, isnt it?) Al these strange coincidents and the weird combination of beer and graff made me laugh. By the way the piece had a nice character where "o" should be. You must have missed the news...back in June his wife Margaret (aka Matokie Slaughter, aka Meta) died shortly after giving birth to their daughter, Asha. I get depressed even bringing this up, but it has some bearing on your question.

ZENYTH.ASP
Hopefully Twist is staying strong and getting lots of help from family and friends in raising his daughter. I am a dad myself, and couldn't even imagine bringing up my daughter without my wife. Much respect to Twist. RIP Meta. stay up.

Guest unknown
if anyone is interested in a tribute article about margaret killgallen, pick up the new issue of transworld skateboarding. there is a page that shows her artwork and has a nice tribute written by ed templeton.
