The ads appeared in The New York Times and other newspapers across the nation. The issues discussed in the ads will be crucial in determining the quality of life on Earth in the near and distant future. Despite this, they have not been given the in-depth coverage in the major media that they deserve. Signers of the ads are part of a coalition of nearly 100 non-profit organizations that favor democratic, localized, and ecologically sustainable alternatives to current practices and policies. View or download the advertisements! The Turning Point Project advertisements discuss the extinction crisis, genetic engineering, economic globalization, industrial agriculture, and megatechnology. Each of these series received a wonderful response from the public, media, educators, and other opinion leaders. It is crucial that these issues continue to be discussed and acted upon. Although we have completed our advertising campaign, we encourage you to contact the organizations that are part of our coalition and support their continuing work on these topics. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Their ads are really well written, and don't seem like a lot of angry shouting bullshit, but rather well informed thought provoking reports. An example they use is Africa, where severe famines have occurred in the past decade, but industrialized agriculture is growing large amounts of cotton and sugar cane. The process also offers few jobs, relying on machines to do much of the work. According to the ad, the UN World Food Programme reports that the world is now producing sufficient food to feed every person on the planet.
