Dr. Dazzle
Hmm.......just 3, huh? Artist: Circle Takes the Square Album Name: As the Roots Undo Genre: Post-Hardcore? Energetic Noise? I don't know it's all over the place.... Best Track: Interview at the Ruins Special significance: Really dark album. Perfect blend of slow melodic sounds and brutal in your face noise. Artist: My Chemical Romance Album Name: Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge Genre: Pop punk Best Track: Thank You for the Venom Special significance: Yeah, they blew up. Yeah, their fan base is almost entirely made up of 14 year old girls. Yeah, they sing about girls and other highschool problems. But I'll be damned if this isn't the most catchy, danceable album of 2004. I seriously listened to it exclusively and non-stop for about a month. Artist: The Libertines Album Name: The Libertines Genre: Grimey Brit-Pop Best Track: Can't Stand Me Now Special significance: These guys are a soap opera of drug abuse and broken friendships. But they make damn good music. Come on, jump on the band wagon....

fermentor666
I love these threads. Three is tough but here we go. Artist: Ehmes Album Name: Drip (2002) Genre: Ambient/Jungle/IDM Best Track: All 8 of them. Special significance: One of those electronic CD's that sounds like nothing else you've ever heard before. Listened to it intensely while mapping for Half-Life. I know a CD is good when I listen to it three times in a row. Plus you can legally download it at archive.org which makes it even better. Artist: Frederik Schikowski Album Name: Einblick Ins Familienalbum (1999?) Genre: Glitch/Casio Best Track: Nice Day, Mr. Braveheart; Eine Ahnung Special significance: Words cannot describe how awesome this CD is. Everything from the harshest glitches to what borders on the line of waiting room music and genius. From irritant records, had to order from the UK. Artist: Kid Dynamite Album Name: Shorter Faster Louder (2000) Genre: Disco Best Track: Got a Minute?; Handy with the Tongue Sword; Death and Taxes Special significance: Yeah, I got into these guys a little late. But they picked me up at the right time. The first CD is a great one, too. Special note: Carthage - 23:64 (2003) QRD - Faardte (2004?) Converge - You Fail Me (2004) Tom Waits - Real Gone (2004); Bone Machine (1992) Boom Bip and Dose One - Peel Sessions (????) And Because it kicks so much melodic ass within 16 minutes and 19 seconds that it deserves that big ass picture in this thread.

I dont know Best Track: Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want Special significance: This album has about 80 of me and my boyfriend's songs. It reminds me of driving in his car on the freeway or in the city just relaxing and being content with life. Artist: De La Soul Album Name: Art Official Intelligence Genre: Hiphop Best Track: My Writes Special significance: None really, album is just freshy fresh. Artist: Aesop Rock Album Name: Float Genre: Hiphop Best Track: Big Bang Special significance: Cause I found the man who bare my children. destroyall
Pearl Jam's "Lost Dogs" album...2004 sucked for music. Kool Keith's "Deisel Truckers" was very good as well, and so was his follow up to Dr. Octo.
JohnnyHorton
Artist: Capharnaum Album Name: Fractured Genre: Technical DeathMetal Best Track: Only 8 tracks but each of them are FIRE Special significance: the drummer was FOURTEEN years old when most of these tracks were recorded... making them the most talented musicians on the planet (lead guitars were done by a 19 year old). Capharnaum is a band made up of band members from several popular metal bands (Trivium, Martyr, Monstrosity) Artist: Crotchduster Album Name: Big Fat Box of Shit Genre: Genre? Label This? NEVER. Best Track: You have to listen to the cd from 1 until 9 is finished to truly appreciate Crotchduster, but my favorite is track 3 "Cain Sings the Blues" Special significance: The drummer is a dog, and the purpose of the band is to commit tax fraud while providing the good people of Williamsburgland with Mammal Sauce (track 6, my second favorite). The fact that Crotchduster exists only to make paradies on every style of music ever is also amazing. Artist: Trivium Album Name: Ember to Inferno Genre: Technical Death Metal Best Track: Fugue (A Revelation), If I Could Collapse the Masses Special significance: The guitar work is amazing, anything Jason Seucof touches turns to gold ... Trivium hold it down and have songs about things like child\spousal abuse, domestic problems etc etc

Yellow Feets
Artist: Incubus Album Name: A Crow Left Of The Murder Genre: Rock Best Track(s): Anythng but "Southern Girl". Special Significance: Ben Kenney of The Roots is their new bassist, Brandon Boyd is an amazing song writer and vocalist, and Mikey's guitar work... delicious. This shit owns. Just buy it. Artist: Radiohead Album Name: Hail To The Thief Genre: Alternative Rock Best Track(s): Sail To The Moon Special Significance: I guess I didn't enjoy this album as much as I thought I was going to. It was still good though no doubt. I personally thought that the lyrics were weak but the music (guitar, drums, that computer-ish shit) was on point. If you liked this album, you should check out eMotive by A Perfect Circle. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE MARS VOLTA. JUST CHECK OUT THE "UNTITLED" SECTION OF 12OZ. LET'S JUST SAY AT ONE POINT, I LIKED THEM MORE THAN INCUBUS... So yeah, they're good. capslock out, me
fermentor666
No offense, but Incubus sucks. I've heard them described as "Faith no More if you cut their balls off". I think that's a pretty good description. But to each their own.

Dr. Dazzle
Hail to the Thief was a bit of a let down. Too much filler and maybe 5 good songs. Hopefully they stop going down this basement-techno route and start crafting real songs again..... But I agree that Sail to the Moon is the best track. I think that's a pretty good description. But to each their own. $5 says you don't like them because their frontman seems gayish/girly. Oh well. It's either that or because of Morning View. I don't like it because I think it's unlistenable and pretentious college pop music. And if I had to choose, I would take the stuff they put out a couple of years ago over there new stuff. Thankfully, I can choose to just turn off my radio. That's all.
