That's a tough one. CAn't you buy the protection program a year after you get the machine, and that way get 4 years of service? But then again, in 4 years that shit'll be outdated...I really don't know anything, but what I'm trying to figure out is if I should get an Apple or another brand when i do decide to drop some dough on a laptop.

If a laptop has everything you need nowadays, what more do you need in the following years? I say make sure you know exactly what the extended warranty covers before you get it.

    I'm going with no.

Apparently I have a new connection that can get me whatever laptop I want at a very reasonable price.

I' ve got the insurance. But I do alot of travelling with mine, so I just got it for peace of mind. I've had trouble in the past with cd/dvd drives. I'd say get it if you have the extra money to burn. Then you dont have to worry about your screen going out or anything. I hear apples service is extremely good.

anything i buy over $1000 dollars gets a warranty. i'd rather have a warranty and never use it then not get it and get fucked out of my money if something were to happen. that shit would eat at me for years on end and with my bad luck, id rather fork up some extra dinero to protect my investment.

Just "accidentally" spill hydrochloric acid on it in 2 years, 9 months after you back everything up. When you look at it that way, $183 is pretty cheap for a new computer.
