    THE WORLD OF POKER

    Discussion started by T=E=A=S=E - Oct 10, 2004

who else here loves to play poker?

i was a little late getting into it, but ive been playing about a week straight now and im fucking hooked. its so much fun.

however, it sucks when you get in your money and youre trying to make it back, you just keep going and going trying to make that money back.

i was getting my ass wooped the past few days but i finally got on a winning streak and won my money back.

anyone else a big fan of poker?

Learn the people you're playing with.
Start off conservative and play hands that you have a good chance of winning.
Just think about what you have, what came out in the community. What cards there could possibly be out to beat you.

After you play conservative and win a good pot with a strong hand,
you'll be able to bluff someone because they'll think you're only
    playing strong hands.

If you get a strong hand off the flop, bet.
    But dont bet strong.
Slooooooow play high pairs, boats, two pair before the river.
Go big toward the end to sucker a few in.

    gotcha gotcha.

so far ive done fairly well.

however sometimes i get in over my head and instead of folding, ill take my chances and i get fucked over that way. but it pisses me off having to fold and lose automatically when i already got so much in the pot ya know?

    getting better though...

If youre the big blind, then obviously, play.

If youre the small blind and you have a face card, suited cards, or connectors. Play

And always remember no matter how much you got in the pot, youre better off cutting your loses than losing more trying buy a pot you cant get.

also, the more people you're playing with the more conservative you have to play. or vice versa, you can play those shittier hands when you're playing with fewer people.

There is definantly a difference between playing poker with a group of friends, playing on-line and playing at a casino. I myself prefer the casino (because I like to bluff a lot), but that can also cost you some big pots some times. For new comers, learn the game first and try to play the other players instead of your cards.
