I still believe its a good thing but Im getting nervous. Im positive its what I want though. I took my Army aptitude test yesterday, and did well. When I was in the waiting room I met a bunch of dope niggas that was joining too. Tomorrow or Friday Ill be getting a physical and then Ill be picking my job. I still have no clue what I want as a career, but Im not worried. Ill do something fun in the Army - right now Im contemplating a job where I jump out of airplanes or some crazy shit like that, if I dont want a career yet, might as well get something that will be fun. Ill take a few classes, play alot of bball..make cash, get scholarship money, meet dope mothafuckas, get out of the house, get in great shape. Then I get out in 3 years, Ill have college paid for with at LEAST 25 G's in the bank. And Ill be on my way to UF. Hell yeah this shits gonna be ill. no love for chicken heads Posted July 25, 2001 Share Posted July 25, 2001 i have considered the army for as long as i can remember. the military (especially the special forces) have always been of interest. i have talked to a recruiter about it. it seemed like a good idea at the time, but now that i think of it i'm glad i'm not going to go. whoever said that college will be harder is right. it's hard enough right out of high school. don't take offense to this, but in the military you're basically somebody's bitch for 4 years, and it's not all boy scout camp. except for special forces, most soldiers only fire a gun a few times and throw like one grenade. that one grenade is what most peoples' opinions are of "blowing shit up". correct me if i'm wrong, but unless you're a demolitions guy and/or in special forces then the grenade is all you get. you did mention airborne though. if i were you i'd try to be a ranger if i was going in. they get to do the most shit. that is what i was going for til i realized that i have a girlfriend and in a near comatose state of laziness. on the positive side, though, don't forget that (as far as we know) you only have one life. if blowing shit up and shooting guns sounds like it's what you want to do, go for it. there is plenty of other time to grow old and settle down. no time like now to go out and have fun. what most people on here are telling you is right - about it not exactly being the most fun ever. talk to people in the army. no matter how excited they were to get in, most are extremely glad to be out. that should say something. probably the best advice is : "i was only listening to the recruters input. listen to other people. The firefighter job sounds good as fuck. They work 24 hours straight..but then get 3 days off. Shit I would love that. But unfortunately it seems there arent many Army firefighters out there so the chances of there being a job opening are slim. Ill give it a shot anyway. I just think Army is a good balance of things. Its like Im on my own and out of the house, but I have most bills paid for and Im still under guidance. Its just a smooth transition from child to adult in my opinion. After joining, tho, he got immensely sick of it and went A.W.O.L. The only reason he's not in jail as of this moment is because he turned himself back in. Once you're in, you're in for four years.
