Dr. Dazzle
Time to throw out the subtle approach. Next time you see him (or her), grab them by the collar and slam them up against the wall, and demand they tell you where your money is. Use words like bitch, cunt, and gun.....and don't sleep a whole day before so you look crazy. You'll get your money back lickety split..... Gunm
As a rule, i never, ever lend someone more than $20. I got ripped off once and that was enough. It's just bad policy to lend money to people. When cash is owed, it does funny things to people and ruins friendships.

Guest
Here's the simple thing to say right off the bat: Sorry but I dont lend money to friends. before you make the mistake of giving the money to a friend then say to them: Look, is $xx.x worth more than our friendship? if you lend them the money and they say they cant return it: Okay then, I'll just grab that [item of value] that I've always like from your house Treat it like a pawn shop. They'll say 'you cant have my turntables, and you say 'you get them back as soon as you pay me my money;.
sludgenuts
i owed 130 payed that back asap when dude needed it. owe supposedly 450 to someone but i think its more like 250. they arent gonna see that. its the payment for them ruining my life... Banks take collateral...so should you. If they plan on paying you back...then they shouldn't have a problem with it. They'll get whatever item you took back upon payment of their debt. plain and simple.

Guest WebsterUno
Originally posted by LENS When cash is owed, it does funny things to people and ruins friendships. yeah, tell me about it. I gave my homie $175 bucks back in July. He 'guaranteed' a product I had purchased through him. I had explained to him that by giving me a guarantee, he must give me back the money if the product was no good. Product wasnt good. So, Ive been calling him and getting no answer. Just a voice mail. I managed to talk to him once a few weeks ago, and he said he was trying to squeeze it out of the guy, but he cant. That was a month ago. Havent heard from him since. Same guy: I had brought a gallon of Skyy Vodka and a bottle of Kaluha to his crib for a BBQ he was having over the summer. I brought the stuff in a brand new VANS backpack. There was so much other liqour and beer there, that we barely put a dent in the vodka. I told him to put up the vodka and save it for the next shindig. I was kinda buzzed, so I forgot my back pack. I call him up about 2 weeks later, and he tells me he drank my vodka, puked in my backpack, and cant get my money back. So, Im assed out a gallon of vodka, 1 backpack, $175, and a homie. http://www.bevmo.com/115images/8298.jpg'> ...ever seen "A Bronx Tale"? Telo
I agree with the collateral part... Except you need to throw a little more spice into it.. Back hand him and say "im taking these turntables and there is nothing you can do till i get my money you monkey".
Guest
here's one I did once. My buddy was in hock so he took his tables to a pawn shop. I told him I'd pay to get them out of hock and hold the pawn ticket. That way he wouldnt have to pay the interest and he'd know that the shop couldnt loose them (or sell them behind his back). it didnt happen because he got some temp work and made the money very quickly. but the deal would be good because someone else is doing the brokering, I just hold the goods and the ticket after they set the price. and damn webs.... that's some punk shit right there. who pukes in a backpack? His story is, that he was using it for a LUNCHBAG!! and leaves food in it for a week. He opens it, and the smell is so rank, he puked in it. So, he promised me a new backpack, because I had just bought it before I took it over there. You know, Im generally cool about shit, but thats a substantial amount of dough. I could really use that money. I could care less about the vodka. The backpack I could use too. Im using plastic bags to carry shit around. Fuck that. If theyre really youre homies, theyll pay you back. I always pay people back. I sold my NOVA to pay someone back...so what the fuck.

Devilush
in our circle of friends, we pretty much loan money when people need it. i mean, people it need it. i trust all my friends and i know i would get hte money back. and if we ever needed money, they would easily loan it to us. one of my friends just recently loaned $300 to another friend to buy a bike just because the bike was just perfect for her. now my sister. thats a different story. she charges interest. He'll borrow the money when needed, and take his time paying you back, but if ask him for it, he'll pawn his shit to get it back to you. Then there's this other guy who is so damn cheap and sleazy. Say there's 6 of us at a table in a bar and we run up like $200 in drinks and shit. Everyone will start tossing in money and guy always says 'I'll just take the cash and put it on my creditcard'. Well by that point there's almost 200 on the table anyways because of tips, and he'll take all the money and not tip shit. I've seen the weasel write 'LOL' on the tip line of the credit card slip. Guest WebsterUno
yeah, see. I like it that people can confidence in me, and actually trust me with things like that. I dont like having things like that on my mind. I would feel like a punk for not paying my friend back. After all, he/she is my friend, right! I have no problem lending people money. I dont even hound them for it. I didnt hound my friend for it. Thing was, he didnt bother to acknowledge me when I did finally decide to call him on it. I waited for like 2 months before I even brought it up. So it not even an issue of wether or not Im a good friend or not. Its that I am a good enough friend to be cool about shit...even 7 months later. Im also a good tipper. You take care of them, they take care of you. ;)

We sat down right when they left and the receipt was still there, so their $1.00 tip got magically changed to $70.00. Fuckers.

gfreshsushi
Originally posted by GnomeToys the receipt was still there, so their $1.00 tip got magically changed to $70.00. Fuckers. i used to do this to assholes when i worked at a pizza place. people who would be assholes when ordering, pay with a credit card, and then not tip the driver? fuck you. i answered so many phone calls about that, "yeah, there's a surcharge for using a credit card. do you remember who you talked to? me? no, i only been here a week, that musta been the other guy, he got fired..." i have a friend of mine that owes me $930. i didn't lend it to him like "here's a grand, get it to me when you can," it was that he was borrowing my truck while i had his car (traded for a few months) and he got it impounded (for parking in a bus stop, that retard), and i had to pay off the parking tickets he owed and impound fees, which was $600. then another time i was driving his car and got pulled over, car was impounded because i wasn't the registered owner and it had half a dozen tickets on it (his again from before) and i had to pay those off so we could get it out, which was another $400. he's paid me back seventy of it so far, and that shit drives me nuts. i see him going to the bar and buying tools he wants for work, and all i can think is "you dropped $200 on shit you don't need and you owe me almost a grand?" i will never lend out money like that again. it was the easy thing to do at the time because i had the cash and he didn't, but it's been about a year and a half. total bullshit. i find that i can't hang out with him very much anymore, it just bugs me too much. it's kinda ruined our friendship. it doesn't help matters much that he's drinking a lot and i'm pretty upset about that, too. it's one of those things that i see as a total luxury item in life. if i owe someone money i pay it off asap. i hate having it hang over my head like that.
