You probably have nothing to explain to this person that they already do not know. I'm in a similar predicament... my brother (age of 14 or so) bought porn online with my credit card... twice. First time he spent about 800 dollars. I had no way of proving it was him the first time... but i knew it was him so i didnt call the police. About a month ago he bought about 60 dollars worth (2 websites) lesbianlessons.com and something else. so i call up the company and say "someone bought some porn on my credit card.. i'd like to know the user name and password".. my brother used his email address as the user name. So i call him up.. and i start telling him this story about how someone bought porn on my credit card and he's like "oh yeah, that sucks".. or whatever.. and so i say yeah... and the username is your email address, got anything you want to tell me? he realized he was caught and admitted to it. i told my mom and she made him show her exactly how he found the website and how he signed on and used the credit card and everything. she says he was red as hell and sweating up a storm..haha.. wow.. why did i type all that out.. anyway.. i think you should definately try to understand that this 12 year old has needs, but at the same time you should definately scold him for purchasing the stuff. Take the locks off of the door if it's his room. If it isnt his room put a lock on any adult movies. Basically, make him understand that you understand what he's doing, but tell him he cant do it with your money.
