Not all of these are exactly like death cab, but mildly almost similar and good anyways.

The Notwist(only the cd Neon Golden)
    Airport Girl
    The Appleseed Cast
    Belle And Sebastian
    Built To Spill
    The Decemberists
    Elliott
    Elliot Smith
    Hood
    Neutral Milk Hotel
    Love-Cars
    Minus The Bear
    Murder By Death
    The Shins
    Yo La Tengo
    The Weakerthans
    The Postal Service
    Magnetic Fields
    Jets To Brazil

Jesus, thats a serious list. That should keep you busy on the softer music tip for quite awhile.
