Guest Pilau Hands
With the resurgence of photography posts lately, I thought I'd bring to attention a show I saw today that exploded my eyeballs. Some of my favorite stuff ever I saw here. The show will be up until Monday the 5th...if you can make it, I recommend it. Seeing the pictures online or in a book really doesn't do them justice. The prints are amazingly developed...and I can't say enough good things about this collection of work. You'll be in love with faces after this show. http://www.richardavedon.com/images/avedon2.jpg'> http://www.eichgallery.dabsol.co.uk/eichmaterials/jpgs/ap2avedon.jpg'> Richard Avedon: Portraits September 26, 2002–January 5, 2003 The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Special Exhibition Galleries, The Tisch Galleries, 2nd floor. "Although Richard Avedon first earned his reputation as a fashion photographer, his greatest achievement has been his stunning reinvention of the genre of photographic portraiture. Featuring approximately 180 works, this exhibition will span the artist’s entire career, from his earliest portraits in the late 1940s through his most recent work. At the core of the installation will be a powerful group of portraits of many of the key artistic, intellectual, and political figures from the late 1950s through the early 1970s, including several large murals, perhaps the grandest photographic portraits ever staged." - from Exhibition notes For more info go to: http://www.richardavedon.com http://www.lookonline.com/avedonreview.html

effyoo
Photo Heads I know nothing about photography, but the composition isn't everything, right? Do techniques in the darkroom matter also? I ask because, as the review says, the "prints are even cleaner than they look in reproduction".

Guest Pilau Hands
Wow... Misteraven, I'm just curious, what are the specifics of their complaint? I ask because I've seen people post news articles on here originating from CNN.com to the NYTimes to smaller news sources and magazines, and I didn't think we had ever run into a problem. I realize now I put the author's name but not the website. Does it have to do with the fact that it's a small site? Also, I'm wondering why the other pictures weren't deleted. You can email me if you prefer.
