    it's for the same reason that mechanic's uniforms is/was "cool" (i'm not up on current trends).... because fashion is silly and designers make people think that uncool things are actually cool.

    My younger whose about 15 cousin was visiting from chicago and i saw him wearing one i asked him why he was wearing a t-shirt advertising a tractor company he replied with something along the lines of "i dunno, i see college kids wearing them and thought it looked cool"

    This shows how vulnerable kids can be towards marketers.
